“All Inclusive Hotel - Soylmar Resort, Cancun”
This hotel is fantastic! I went January 2012, Its certanly the cheapest all inclusive on the strip and I say well worth the money. The beach front has chairs, an open bar and snacks throughout the day, all inclusive food was filling and fresh, served 3 times a day you certanly would not go hungry. They have a swim up bar, the pools were well maintained cleaned everyday by staff. I stayed in 3 different rooms, the beachfront balcony rooms are amazing, the standard rooms are also really clean and nice but the views lead out to a car park...which is ok if you want budget! The front of the hotel you can catch a bus for 7 pesos each to all the clubs and markets takes 15mins. Ive seen alot of bad reviews about this hotel, but I really thing the new managment has changed things around!
“solymar hotel cancun”
this was great for the money - huge rooms that were very well kept and very clean - beautiful wide beach with towels and chairs - two very nice pools - the restaurant is small but the food is great. staff is very good and eager to please.
“Pleased”
The entire stay was entirely pleasurable. I was promised an ocean view and it was splendid. Iguanas wandered over the grounds perching on the walls and rocks. The staff was friendly enough but only a few spoke English so it made conversation a bit difficult. I would definitively recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant stay and wide open beaches. It is not an Americanized hotel but it is well worth the money to stay.
“Staff coming into your room without a reason”
The hotel is nice and the rooms are nice and clean, but there are little things that you expect that they do not have, such as a hairdryer, an iron or simply a box of kleenex in the bathroom. If you don't have an all-included reservation, sometimes you pay at the snack bar and the man has to run upstairs to get change. They don't have prices posted anywhere. They take forever to prepare a simple snack. The food is somewhat edible but nothing more. Unfortunately, there are no nearby restaurants, so you are stuck. Even though it is very close to the airport, it seems all hotels in the area have a deal with taxi drivers and they charge you 300 Mexican pesos for a ride that should cost less than 100. I don't like when people take advantage of tourists. Something I did not like was that someone knocked at my door and by the time I got to the door, they were already opening it. There were two young women and a man with several keys in their hands. When I asked who they were, they claimed to be staff (even though they were not wearing an uniform) and they said they were just "checking if the room was occupied". Since the room was already cleaned and they did not come to clean it, I was wondering what they wanted. If they wanted to know if the room was occupied, they could have checked with the front desk. Did they want to steal something from my room? I don't know, and I guess I will never know.
“Great Resort!”
First things first. This is a Mexican resort, a place where Mexican's go when they are on vacation. That being said, the hotel is a fun and friendly place to relax. If you are looking for a hotel the pampers you and you want to be call you " Mr or Ms" this is not the one. If you want a great place to stay for the money, know the staff by their first name and just have a great time with great people. This is the one.
“Affordable friendly service”
The hotel is in need of repair, but the prices are appropriately low. The staff is very nice and make you feel welcome.
“great deal though not americanized!”
this is a good place to stay if you don't need to have the comforts of an americanized hotel. most of the waitstaff didn't speak english (the front desk does) and the service was slow but it felt closer to mexican culture than a marriott or holiday inn would. it is very international and we melt a lot of great people from around the world. they have the best guacamole, pico de gallo and chips ever! the all inclusive package is a good deal because it includes buffett style food and never ending beer and pina coladas which are totally worth it. it is also a good place for vegetarians as the buffett has a lot of non meat options. the beach is very nice! the resort is right on the bus route so you can catch a ride downtown for 8.5 pesos. the website says it has laundry but we found out it has laundry service for $30 dollars a kilo so don't plan on doing laundry without paying a lot of money. the website also says it has cable but it is all in spanish. it also has internet access but only in the lobby! we bought water for fairly cheap at the tiny grocery but sunblock is $30 dollars so try to bring it if possible. we booked 2 excursions through the hotel concierge which were both great! one to chichen itza and one to isla mujeres. the room has a safe which we used and did not have any problems with theft. overall, i would recommend this place if you can get past the minor annoyances listed above.
“Great Time if you are not snobby or picky!”
You will have a great time if you are not snobby or picky. The hotel was quite run down, but we didn't expect a 5 star hotel for the great price we got. We loved the people there & enjoyed mingling with the other guests. Now that we have experienced the hotel, I would say we might stay again but would probably look for something a little better.
“My stay in at Solymar Hotel in Cancun”
I had a a great time during my stay at Solymar Hotel in Cancun, minor details that need to be worked on the room, (easier way to enter into your room) The food and drinks were ok, humble quality on the food choice, but it worked for me. The staff on the other hand, was great. They were very friendly and helpful towards anyone who need anything. I would recommend this hotel for the price paid.
“Good trip for the Low cost”
We had a wonderful trip although we had to switch rooms due to lack of hot water and a non-working toilet. Otherwise, the pool and beach are lovely! The food buffet was alright, some nights were better than others which left much to be desired. Drinks included = good time regardless!
