“Great Beach, amazing views, near”
Na Balam has the nicest cleanest beach on Isla Mujeres. The bar and restaurant service was great and they even deliver to your sunbed or beach chair (which is complementary if you are a guest!) The rooms are very spacious and with a great view and the hammock was a nice touch. The mattresses were just OK in terms of comfort, but everything else was even better than I expected. I will definetly be going back!
“Idyllic retreat right on the beach”
This good-value hotel has an ideal location right on Norte Beach. The beach here has perfect white coral sand and is shallow for one hundred yards and so suitable for all ages. The rooms are simple but stylish and with no TV (which I like). However, one is not cut off from civilisation because there is free WIFI in the reception and restaurant areas including the beach, so those who really have to stay in touch can do so right on the beach. The staff are friendly, the food is good, and the location is idyllic amongst tropical gardens and coconut palms. The restaurant bar is directly behind the beach. Isla Mujeres town is now much livelier than it used to be (I have been coming to Isla for 33 years) with a laid back, international night life within easy and safe walking distance of the hotel. None of this can be heard from the beach, which is very peaceful at night. Only those looking for a glitzy American-style hotel with all mod cons will be disappointed. Highly recommended.
“Beautiful and relaxing.Perfect week.”
The most beautiful spot on the island.! We would go into town for activities but then come back to our beautiful, quiet resort for the perfect sunsets and delicious dinners just steps from the water. Yoga was a wonderful plus. I would recommend this property to anyone who needs to relax and recharge their batteries, or for couples who are looking for a romantic get away. Very clean, very safe, very friendly. The only thing I would add is a coffee pot inthe room!
“Very Relaxing”
Na Balam was an extremely relaxing, comforting experience. I highly recommend it. The best hotel on the island.
“We'll definitely come back here next year!”
This place was paradise! It was by far on the best beach. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and all of the staff was very friendly. The food at the hotel was far too expensive and we think they and the public would benefit by making changes there, but we would come back here in a minute. We loved it!
“Great hotel and beach”
We were very pleased with all the aspects of our hotel. We were a little leery having read other reviews and were pleasantly suprised. The enitre area was immaculate, the beach fantastic, the staff was superb and the restuarant served delicous food and drinks. We did experience low water pressure in the shower and the water was warmest in the afternoon which is when we showered after lounging at the beach all day.
“Laid Back Tropical Holiday”
This hotel was recommended in both Fodor's and Frommer's guide books. We wanted something small and low-key and, and this seemed to fit the bill. The fact that it was yoga-oriented was a bonus. After reading reviews of this place it seemed that people either really liked it or hated it and I was somewhat nervous about booking it. After having stayed there, I wonder about some of my fellow American travelers and their expectations. We had 8 delightful days and this included two days of cold hurricane force winds. The place is beautifully situated on probably the best beach in Isla Mujeres. It's a public beach but the hotel has ample tanning beds with comfy pads and umbrellas which the staff will arrange to your liking. Food and drink services are brought to you upon request. Our room (number 5), on the second floor was quite large and spacious, with two double beds (very firm mattresses), a sitting area, and a spacious balcony looking out over the lush tropical gardens and ocean. Chairs on the balcony could have been more comfortable. The maid kept it spotless. Everything is bleached white muslin, very fresh looking, and green tiled floors. Shower water pressure was great, although lighting in the vanity area could be improved. The chef is quite inventive and the food very good, especially breakfast and lunch. We got our room for a good rate through Expedia and thought it was worth every penny. Our stay was quiet and relaxed, just what we wanted.
“Going back Next Year”
I booked this place for my father and I to stay at to get away from the busy life back home. My mother recently passed away, so it was important for my father and I to have some time to relax, think and recoup. Na Balam was fanastic from day one. It was quiet, beautiful, clean and very relaxing. We even go 2 massages at the resort - which were very reasonably priced and quite amazing. The service was friendly and very helpful and food was absolutely delicious. In fact we met other families at the hotel's restaurant that have come from other resorts because Na Balam's food was so good. One of my favorite parts of the resort was how laid back and beautiful it was. The architecture of the place is very organic and fresh - so much more fitting than the other cement resorts. It was also a great pleasure to meet and get to know the mother and son who run the resort. What more could you ask for, when the owner of the resort comes over to you at dinner and makes an effort to see that your stay is perfect. This place is a gem, and everyone should go to truly experience a perfect vacation. We're actually making plans to go back next year!
“Best quiet place in Isla Mujeres”
We'd go back to Na Balam in a heartbeat. The staff are extremely friendly, the restaurant is exceptional, the location is perfect, the sand beach is awesome, the pool is secluded and lovely. We had our 7-year-old, who loved it. There was one other family with kids, but it's not a place where families are made to feel less welcome (the hotel built a playground on the beach). Our son is a swimmer/snorkler/nature buff, so he spent half his time in the water and exploring the shore. We stayed a week and went on a few day trips off island, but we would have been thrilled to just zone out at Na Balam. The Island itself is becoming more developed and more expensive, so it's becoming harder to find cheap ways to do the things we're accustomed to there (snorkel, fish, etc.). No real complaints - the usual Mexico plumbing problems etc but staff were on top of them. If you want a peaceful and quiet alternative to Cancun, head to Isla Mujeres, and stay at Na Balam.
“Beauty and Comfort”
Na Balam is located within a lush tropical garden on the most beautiful beach in the world. My room was on a corner and I awoke to soft Caribbean breezes and a view of both garden and sea. The bed was comfortable and the ambiance of the room was calming. I swam in the warm sea during the day and a serene garden pool at night. Every member of the staff was warm and welcoming. I had some of the best meals of my life in the restaurant Zazil Ha which is right on the beach and serves a lovely continental breakfast that you eat while gazing across the etherial turquoise waters surrounding beautiful Isla Mujeres. Thank you Na Balam!
