“Awesome View Awesome Time”

The Gran Melia shines like a treasured silver piece on the bottom of the crystal like Carribean Sea. Friendliness and hospitality is top shelf. The easy access to the local bus stop should not be underrated. Use this option when going downtown. Aquaworld-directly across the street did not disappoint. Make sure that you get the transfers from the airport- we did not and got hosed big time. Back to the Hotel--room service was great. Room attendants were very quick and efficient. Any questions we had were answered quickly. Note: the hotel will try to interest you in a time share opportunity. They did not hound-but they are ready to give you something for your time. We did not attend. The beach is good ! The pool is great ! The gift shop has excellent prices for trinkets and such. The hotel emits the fragrance of tropical flowers and attention to the watergarden goes on daily. The hotel is great ! Get the Ocean View-its worth it !

“Best service in Cancun”

The service at the Gran Melia hotel was excellent! My family and I were very impressed with the rooms at the hotel. Our room had a spacious private balcony with two lounge chairs. One of the only drawbacks was that our mini fridge did not work so we couldn't keep anything drinks cold during our stay there. The staff also charged us for a juice from the mini fridge which no one had consummed but the front desk credited it back to our room when I called to discuss the charge. The inside of the hotel was also very beautiful with many vines cascading from the ceiling down to the lobby. They also offered free shows by the bar or at their sushi lounge nightly. I would stay there again.

“Very nice Hotel”

We thought this hotel was beautiful. It's indoor folliage was unique and provided a nice atmosphere to wake up to. The marble stairs, floors, walls etc. was impressive. We will definitely stay here in our Cancun future!!!

“An absolutely gorgeous hotel !”

I found the Gran Melia Cancun to be an absolutely gorgeous hotel. The architecture is simply stunning. It is very reminiscent of the ancient Mayan style pyramids and temples. Also, one is struck by the wonderful and pervasive minty smell of the lobby and open space areas that I was told was owed to the many plant species that are present in these areas. The huge hanging plants are a sight to see. Simply gorgeous! One truely feels that he or she has entered a tropical paradise inside the Gran Melia Cancun. However, it did take some getting used to the fact that the lobby, common areas, and restaurants were not air conditioned. It seemed that natural ventilation was utilized throughout these areas. It was very warm, but not unbearable. The hotel staff was always very courteous and expeditious with all of my and my wife's requests for service. The restaurants had very good food, but I did find the prices to be quite expensive. The American Greenback or the Mexican Peso are both excellent options for all purchases, as well as credit cards. There is onsite money exchange service available; however, one might find a better exchange rate at a local Cancun bank. The beach areas are Mexican Federal territory and are absolutely beautiful and well maintained. My wife and I will return to this hotel!

“Too bad a week was not enough!”

Everything in the hotel is very cleaned.Everyone is very friendly and helpful. As soon as we arrived we got our room, no delays. Kid friendly place. Nice swimming pool temperature. The beach was alright because of the red flag status but beautiful. My family and I are going back next year.

“Wonderful hotel, excellent service”

Don't listen to the naysayers below - this is a fantastic hotel with great amenities and wonderful service - I just went on my second vacation there because the first time was so enjoyable. I've stayed at 4-5 star hotels all over the world and the Gran Melia ranks right up there with the others I've visited. Yes, check-in and check-out can sometimes take a while - but keep in mind they have over 650+ rooms - if you can't deal with that minor delay then you may want to stay elsewhere. Also, I think people ought to keep in mind that when you travel to Mexico, the staff at your hotel will speak SPANISH - of course there are plenty of bilingual staff members too, but for pete's sake don't expect everyone there to be fluent in English. Remember, when in Rome...

“Cancun in April”

I was very skeptical about this hotel b/c of all of the reveiws I had read, but the hotel was great. The staff was awesome too, and the food was wonderful. The only thing that I would caution everyone on is the "guest packet" the hotel staff tries to give you when you get to the hotel. The "guest packet" will be a ploy to get you to listen to them about their time shares. If you are not interested, tell them no right away, otherwise you will be stuck listening to a sales pitch for a couple of hours. Overall, the hotel was spectacular... I would recommend the ocean view room, as that was a beautiful sight when I woke up in the morning.

“Gran Melia Cancun”

The hotol was really beautiful. There is a large multi-story atrium in the center that was like a jungle in the middle of the hotel with vines hanging down and birds. really peaceul. the beach was clean and beautiful. the spa was excellent. My only complaint was that they checked me into a room with construction in the room below and they didn't handle the situation very well but I would go back.
