A children's club provides complimentary supervised activities for ages 4-12. Complimentary adult activities include Spanish and dancing lessons, water aerobics, bingo, and beach volleyball. A complimentary sound-and-light show, sometimes including Mayan dancers, takes place in the main building's garden atrium twice weekly.
The business center has wireless Internet access and four computers with high-speed Internet access (surcharges for both). Flexible meeting space totals 2,890 square meters (31,000 square feet) and includes 21 breakout rooms and audiovisual equipment. A multi-purpose foyer contains 185 square meters (2,000 square feet). Up to 2,000 guests can join in receptions, and up to 1,200 guests can sit down for banquets. The hotel can arrange theme parties with props, costumes, food, beverages, music, and live entertainment for special occasions. It can also help arrange tours of area sites, including archaeological sites and nearby islands.
Shops sell jewelry, handicrafts, resort wear, beachwear, and cigars. The hotel purifies its water.

Gran Melia Cancun offers 678 spacious guestrooms and suites in five pyramid-shaped towers of 5-8 stories. Each tower contains a garden/pond atrium topped by a pyramid-shaped skylight. Lacy vines drape the interior.
Large balconies or ground-floor terraces are fringed by plants and furnished with chairs and cocktail tables. Views are of Nichupté Lagoon or the Caribbean Sea. Air-conditioned rooms and suites also have marble floors, Mayan-style bas reliefs, and dining sets. Marble bathrooms include shower/tub combinations and bidets.
Flat-screen (plasma) TVs come with cable, high-speed Internet access is available (surcharge), and rooms have direct access to telephone lines. In-room safes (large enough to accommodate laptops and video cameras) and minibars (surcharge) are included. Room service is available 24 hours.
Step up to the elevated luxury of Red Level. A boutique hotel within the hotel, our private RedLevel pyramid is recognized and defined by premier accommodations and personalized service.

“Great time at the Gran Melia”
We stayed at the Gran Melia from July 13-18 2011. Prior to our visit I had read mixed reviews, but personally I find the hotel to be very beautiful and accomodating. The lobby is beautiful. The pools and the private beach is awesome, and the rooms are comfortable as well. During our stay we rented a cabana by the pool, which I highly recommend especially if travelling with a baby as we did. The hotel was also gracious enough to supply me with a microwave at their market shop to heat up my baby food! The only thing I do regret about the trip is not getting the all inclusive package. I found that there are not enough restaraunt options within walking distance of the hotel. I would say there are about 4 restaraunts total, including Mcdonalds. Of course, you can take the bus (less than a dollar) anywhere as the stop is right outside the hotel, but with a baby, sometimes that extra travel was not possible. Overall, the hotel is great and yes, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to cancun.

We really enjoyed our stay at Gran Melia. We had a few minor issues (battery in safe was dead, hot water was slow to come on, hair dryer burnt out) but the staff was very attentive and the issues were quickly resolved to our satisfaction. The breakfast and lunch buffets were awesome and the specialty restaurants were good however a bit pretentious. The property was super clean (never saw a single insect) and our room was always stocked with towels. The doors of the room slide open so we were able to enjoy the wonderful breeze and hear the ocean. We will definitely stay there again.
“stunning architecture”
This hotel was visually impressive and the staff was warm and welcoming. I was disappointed in the pools(which were colder than the ocean temperature) and the hot tubs (which didn't seem to be working the whole time we were there). The beach was nice to look at but we couldn't swim in the water as the waves were too rough and there were rocks all along the water break. We weren't approached by the time share people at all, not even once, but that could have something to do with our appearance (young couple with not a lot of money, we probably look the part). There was an all-inclusive option that we opted out of. We only ate in the hotel two of our six nights in Cancun. If you are the type of person who wants to stay in the resort the whole time you're on vacation I would recommend getting the all-inclusive option because the night we didn't feel like going out, the buffet cost us almost $90. If you are the type of traveler who likes to get out of the hotel and see the area you're visiting, don't get the all-inclusive, you can find much better, more authentic food in downtown Cancun for very low prices!

“Cancun Vacation”
After reading some negative reviews, I was hesitant about selecting the Gran Melia. My instincts proved to be correct. My husband and I loved the hotel!!! The staff was very helpful and friendly; the hotel and room were clean. Staff were seen constantly cleaning and maintaining hotel. Our room was cleaned twice a day. My husband and I did not mind leaving tips for the excellent service. We had breakfast buffet and room service and the food was excellent. The pool was very relaxing! We will definitely choose this hotel again.

“beautiful hotel”
hotel was beautiful, safe and clean but the stairs to enter the hotel from the street are abit much after a long day in the sun and a night out!! they do have a driveway if u choose but that is one uphill driveway also! beach is beautiful but the water is lined with rocks some u can't see and some that are very large and hurt if you get knocked down by a wave, you have to go in a bit to get passed all the rocks.. definitely keep an eye on young children! rooms were very clean and airconditioner in the room worked great!!!! overall nice hotel, great staff and felt very safe the entire weEK
