Mediocre foodPosted 15-Apr-2014
Pros: nice staff, beautiful beach, ok entertainment Cons: food is not good at all. Very few choices. There are 5 restaurants in total. Two of them you have to make reservations at the lobby by 1pm if you want to eat there. Of course when you're busy enjoying your vacation and going on excursions you either forget or don't have time to make the reservations, so you're stuck with the buffet restaurants which have a very poor selection. One night I had some tacos and asked the waiter if I could have some chopped onions and cilantro to put in them, but he told me all they had for the tacos was the different types of salsas and topping at the buffet which did not include onions nor cilantro!

Nice hotel. Beach is great.Posted 13-Apr-2014
Pros: All the staff and the beach.
Cons: Needs a little updating.
Location: It is very close to the museum and you can also walk to the Cancun mart if you want to do a little shopping
The workers at the kids club were wonderful! The beach is the best, never a shortage of beach chairs. All of the staff on the beach and in the hotel are very friendly. The best food was at the Italian restaurant. Over all we had a wonderful vacation.

Great place on the beach!Posted 12-Apr-2014
Pros: The location and amount of places made available on the beach.
Cons: Perhaps a little more attention paid to some areas in the room.
If your looking for a relaxing yet good time, this is the place to go. There were four in our party and we all enjoyed immensely. No matter what your preference, beach; pool; dining or night life. The staff where very friendly and helpful. Our favorite restaurants were the Mexican and Italian. The buffet on the beach was great for breakfast and lunch. The all-inclusive is the way to go!

Good hotel for familiesPosted 10-Apr-2014
Very nice hotel, pleasant and helpful staff. The food was ok, the wine was poor, morning coffee not good, otherwise breakfast was fine. On the beach with 2 pools, good kids club

The hotel was really nice the staff was great too. The only problem we had was no hot water, first room we got shower broke and we didn't have any hot water, then they gave us a new room everything was fine till last day we didnt have any hot water again. Restaurants were good not the greatest and sushi bar the worst sushi i ever tried.

Beautiful water.Posted 6-Apr-2014
Location: It's right on the beach and within walking distance of a mall. Restaurants, swim up bar, and pools on the premises. Bus stop near by.
The water along this stretch of the beach was the most beautiful shade of blue. Great places to eat. The food and drinks were excellent. Loved the staff. Every one of them went above and beyond to make us happy.

The best on the beach!Posted 5-Apr-2014
Pros: I loved the all-inclusive! I love the agents in the lobby ready to book trips. I loved the food and eating options. I love the views and location!
Cons: Wireless internet access in the rooms. The beds.
Location: Right on the beach. Very close to major tourist attractions like scuba diving, snorkeling, malls, flea market, car rentals, etc.
The Gran Caribe Real is a great time and perfect vacation getaway. My friend and I were hoping to relax somewhere close to the beach and this was exactly that. The hotel is right on the beach! There are cabanas and tanning beds galore! If you want to lounge on the beach, this is perfect. Servers come around for drink orders while you're on the beach and it's part of the all-inclusive. I couldn't even see another hotel with the same kind of facilities as this one. There is literally a bar on the beach... it was the coolest thing. I upgraded to an ocean view room and it was worth it! We ordered room service a couple of times (part of the all-inclusive) very fun! There are plenty of bars and restaurants right in the hotel, but make sure you make reservations at some of them in the morning. If not, no worries, the buffets were incredible. I was very impressed with the food and drinks. We also took a couple of trips and were able to schedule all of that in the lobby with some in-house agents. The beds were not the best, but the rooms are nice and air-conditioned. The wireless internet is free, but we were having difficulties accessing it our room, but had no problems in the lobby or out by the pool. There is entertainment every night and though it isn't a Vegas show, it was pretty impressive and free! I don't have kids, but there were plenty of kids and activities for them... including a separate playground pool. I will definitely be staying here again!

Amazing viewsPosted 4-Apr-2014
Upgraded room by negotiating and had acces to the sister resort (Hyatt) next door. Allowed us full access to that resort which is adult only. Do not accept first offer on anything in Mexico. Negotiate everything.
