Celebrating Half a Century

Posted 1-Mar-2015
Pros: It was all inclusive. So, if you wanted to put your wallet away and just enjoy the resort you would be able to do it. They have it all!
Cons: Having to go to a Welcome Meeting in order to receive a map of the resort. Provide them at the request of the guest!
Location: The location is great. Close to everything and easy to get on the bus R1 or R2 and a cab. Plenty of shops, restaurants, clubs and tours.
Our family visited Cancun for my Birthday and our Anniversary to relax and celebrate. We booked two rooms. Our trip was too short. We really enjoyed the Cran Caribe Real and Cancun. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. The beach was beautiful and well maintained. There were plenty of activities, the hotel was well maintained and the food was good at the buffets, Sunset Grill and the ocean view restaurant but only so, so at the restaurants that require reservations. The halls were noisy outside of our room. At night, you could hear everything in your room from the hallways outside. If you are not out late or have small children you need a room away from the elevators and the ice machine. We stayed in an Ocean Front Suite with a beautiful view. We had hoped to have units next to each other but they were unable to accommodate (even with a request place on our reservations prior to arrival). There is lots of up selling and a push for tours to be booked. We had massages on the beach and the massage therapists were very good. We would definitely return again to this resort and enjoyed the all inclusive atmosphere.

Mixed review - some good and bad

Posted 28-Feb-2015
Pros: Nice pool and beach Constant availability of food and drinks. Attentive and polite staff nice interior decor to suites, nice linens
Cons: bland food Noisy hotel - need adult only pool Price haggling on room upgrade & phone charges Annoying sell by guest services on travel plan
Location: Not much immediately nearby. But central location of hotel zone Walk a mile to flea market and big name restaurants
Overall: this is more of a nice 3-star hotel, not a 4 star hotel. it was nice stay for 5 day. As an adult traveler without kids who was seeking r&r and luxury, I don't plan to return. The staff are attentive, helpful and friendly. The pool and beach are nice with plenty of beach chairs. The interior of the bedroom suite is nice with luxurious linens and stocked fridge. There is plenty of availability to food and cocktails. Felt the premises were secure. Availability of computers and printers. The spa option for a massage by beach was wonderful. The food is bland and basic, except for the Italian restaurant. The hotel is noisy -- lots of kids everywhere, hotel dance shows, and loud and static music by the dj at the pool. No laptop wi-fi availability inside my bedroom, only outside on the balcony. The sale by guest services and the traveling program to purchase its travel share program was aggressive and a waste of time. The hotel price haggled me over a room upgrade and phone charges to an 1-800 business although the operator only gave me partial information about the charges (connectivity fee but not cost per minute).

Wonderful trip to the beach!

Posted 28-Feb-2015
Pros: Everything was great. Several different restaurants, some open air. Clean, beautiful pools and gorgeous beach with comfortable furniture and bars.
Cons: I cannot think of one thing.
Location: Location is on the best beach with easy access to a walking/ biking path. The bus comes by the hotel every 30 sec and takes you anywhere on the strip.
Spent 5 days in February. Spacious roomies with comfy beds and balcony with a view; fantastic staff; multiple pools and rstaurants; live music; gorgeous beach with cabanas and plants of lounge chairs; multiple pools; great food; lots of activities; massage on the beach; great food!

Excellent staff. The food options were great. Pool good, and the hotel is right on the beautiful white, sandy beach. Wonderful stay and would highly recommend to families with or without kids.

Staff was very responsive and friendly.

Posted 25-Feb-2015
Pros: Excellent service from kind and thoughtful staff.
Cons: The room could have been cleaner and my sink was clogged when I checked in.
Location: There are all types of spring break style Bars within walking or short cab ride distance. Plenty of adventure options that the hotel would arrange.
My room had some minor quirks. My sink was clogged initially (fixed quickly) and the room had a few spots that could have been cleaner but noting disgusting. They checked and restocked the in room soft drinks, waters and alcohol throughout the day, and cleaned it really well after the initial blips. As far as the restaurants go, it was a lot of buffet style eating with freshly made food for the most part. Some of it was pretty good and some gross just like any buffet experience. There were also some table service restaurants but the food was most likely the same just a bit more fresh. There are bars everywhere with anything you could ask for as far as drinking goes. All of the bartenders were extremely nice and accommodating. Good drinks and plenty of them. I tipped 20 pesos ($1.50 or so) for every other drink and they took notice and looked out for me after that. My only complaint is the bars close at midnight so if you want to keep the party going you have to hit a club outside the resort or drink in the room. Check in and out was easy and painless. They take your bags find you a cab etc. I had a wonderful experience but would probably look for another resort next time. There are so many options available and this place was good but not I HAVE to go back there great.

Where's the pool?

Posted 24-Feb-2015
Pros: The bathrooms were nice and the shower was large. The cleaning of the room was well done.
Cons: The pool area needs to be redone. The pool is too small. Probably 2X the size of a regular pool. Way too small. Gets crowded quickly.
Location: Near the city and shopping and all of the tours a plus for that.
I have been to Cancun 6 times including this trip. I have to say that the pool was very disappointing. It was about 2X the size of a thumb tac. Maybe you are a beach person. The beach was nice and the water was clean and blue. The food was ok at best. No swim up bar and the kids pool/play area seemed like land of the lost. Tucked away and nobody goes there. The mini golf course needs a lot of repair. I have stayed at these other places and would stay there before this hotel again. Oasis/ Moon Palace/ Iberostar/Grand Parnasus.

Nice all inclusive right on the beach!

Posted 19-Feb-2015
Pros: The great service!
Cons: Something needs to be done with the room doors that slam shut all morning! The need to have some sort of resistance so they shut slowing.
Location: Close to everything, the bus is a 2 min walk, the ferry is about a 10 min bus ride away. Shopping is right across the street.
The common indoor areas are nice and comfortable, perfect for after dinner lounging, bar area is nice and nightly entertainment was good and fun! The staff is amazingly friendly and the overall service is great, the food is good (none of us got sick), but the same food most days. We were never able to get reservations at Maria's. The sunset grill restaurant is ok just plan on waiting a while for your food - it's made to order. We had a private party on the deck near the pool which was amazing and dirt cheap!! The pool was great as were the activities! Everything really kid friendly! The beach area is perfect and they bring you drinks even near the water!! Margarita porfavor!! Plenty of cabanas. The only draw back was the room, they are basic, clean with comfortable beds, nice showers but the noise level in the a.m. is pretty loud. The doors slam shut with the slightest amount of wind and you can hear people walking by and can even hear their conversations. The pasta guy at the upstairs restaurant needs to improve on his customer service skills. The chapel is beautiful! Overall, I would go back - we had fun!
