Buho’s is a casual open air restaurant/bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. A diverse range of dishes are served, including a few island specialties. Buho’s three beach palapa bars, with its unusual combination of swings and hammocks, serves a vast selection of tropical drinks, ice cold bear and fruit cocktails. Beverage service is available from 10:00 a.m. to midnight. Famous for its sunset happy hour, Buho’s has been a “must-see” attraction for over a decade!

“We were pleased with the selection”
We chose the "castle" section of this hotel from all the reviews we had read and were pleased with the choice. The room has a small patio with 2 chairs, which gave us a wonderful view of the sun setting over the water through the palm trees. Bed was on the firm side, but after a day out in the sun, we had no problems falling asleep. Never had problems with noise. Once we figured out the fridge (which is connected to a light switch), it was super cold. We would fill up water bottle with water from cooler and put in tiny freezer. Next morning it was frozen and ready for another hot day in the sun. There is comp breakfast of toast, juice, coffee or hot tea. Can supplement with other items on the menu. North beach is just a few steps away. Umbrellas and chairs can be rented for $5 each. Would have been nice if the bar/restaurant would have come by to order drinks (maybe they do that in the high season?). Overall very restful and peaceful. Would choose this place again.
“Exactly what we wanted!”
The perfect location, room was minimal which was nice cause we weren't inside often, staff was friendly, food was great. it also had a safe and a small refrigerator.
“Comfortable, relaxing and great for the price.”
The location of this hotel is one of it's greatest features; right on the beach, yet only a few short blocks from the main pedestrian walkway of shops and restaurants. Also just a short walk to the lagoon where we spent a lot of time snorkeling. I particularly liked the in room mini frig for storing snacks and beverages as well as the safe to store valuables without having to worry about them. It's not spacious, but we didn't spend a lot of time there, and the balcony was particularly nice. Rather like having an extra room to sit and relax. If you want high end luxury, lots of staff to cater to your ever need, you'll probably want to go somewhere else. But for a quiet and relaxing getaway, this is the place for you.
“We loved this place!”
We did not like the tower rooms , but were accomodated in another room. The new room was spacious and will go and stay here again. The included breakfast was toast,coffee,and a plate of fresh fruit. The hotel is on the North beach and is only a few yards from the water. They have a beautiful pool and grounds.

Great location(North Beach),great staff,and beautiful courtyard. A very good value for this piece of paradise.
“Would definitely stay there again”
Bed was firm.The free wireless internet was only available in the lobby area. So I had to drag myself and laptop to the tiny lobby with my laptop in my lap. I would have liked to have access in my room. I would definitiely stay there again. Right on the beach. Great sandy beach. Close to restaurants and shopping. Buho swing bar a perfect place to watch the sunset, sit in a swing and sip on a cold drink. Pool is relaxing and a great place to visit with other tourists. Golf cart rentalsare right at hotel. Complimentary breakfast includes toast, butter, and jelly with coffee and orange juice. A $4.50 value. Skipped it most of the time. I stayed in the castle room which was across the street from the lobby area. It was quiet which I liked. Safe deposit box too small for my laptop. Beach towels: one per person per two days. Sucked to have to use the same towel two days in a row before getting clean ones. Great that it was a smoke free property. Our room didn't have a mini bar. There isn't a nightclub there unless they are counting Buho's Bar. TV was small. I doubt they were High-definition televisions. Enjoyed the nice balcony with partial sea view. No ice or vending machines on site.They do provide portable water but these always seemed to be empty except the lobby. Great staff. Beautiful courtyard. Not much shower water pressure. The lighting at the sink/mirror is not good for applying makeup.
“Relaxing and beautiful!”
Perfect for the laid back traveler! Staff was very accommodating, grounds were beautiful, beach was steps away! Close to downtown, great price, cold air conditioning, water pressure was like at home. You do have to give them a $150 deposit upon check in, they credit it back when you check out and return the room key, remote, and safe key. I didnt mind, it looked as though the dvd player in my room was stolen so I understood the deposit thing. I loved having a refrigerator in the room. The free breakfast was good, 2 peices of toast with jelly, coffee, juice, and a plate of fruit. If you were needing more after a night of tequila, you could order an omlet or whatever!
“Charming little hotel”
Small, quiet, clean hotel with AC, cable and comfortable firm mattresses. Like the older hotels on the island it's small enough to sit pleasantly under the palm trees and has lovely landscaping. We didnt spend a ton of time in the hotel room because the beach is so amazing. Short walking distance to restaurants and shopping. It is NOT a luxury hotel but is a very comfortable hotel we will stay in again.
“Beautiful courtyard”
This was the third time I stayed at Maria Del Mar. The location is great because its right near the beach and close to downtown.
“Great Place!”
I know there are allot of mixed reviews about this hotel. I went there with my husband and infant child. We had an amazing time. Wonderful location, clean, pleasant. I only assume that those that don't like this hotel are executing a 5 star experience. This isn't a 5 star hotel. For a relaxed casual comfortable hotel with an amazing location this is the place to go. Only downfall is the breakfast: all you get is coffee, juice, and toast. If I could change anything it would be the breakfast as that gets old really quick. Also there is no wireless in the rooms, just at restaurant and 1 other area of hotel.
