“Delightful and friendly”
Depending on room location can be noisy with trains passing by
“affordable elegance”
Great value for the weekender. Unfortunately the pool was closed for repairs but other than that it was fantastic
“Sadly not really worth it!”
Room was next to supply room and could hear the maids talking and gathering materials early in the morning. Maybe they were just hanging out instead of getting cleaning supplies because the mold in the shower/bathroom tells of a different story, Yuck!. Beds were comfortable and staff somewhat helpful. Parking is expensive and hard to find if you are not valeting your vehicle. Was not what I expected and next time would choose a different hotel when staying downtown Calgary.
“Palliser was pretty good for the most part.”
The staff was very nice but - there were several issues. Upon arrival was advised that our room was not ready and it was a very busy weekend. Was asked to have a seat in the lobby and I would be notified. Well after falling asleep and waking up 90 minutes later I inquired at the front desk and sure enough the room was ready long ago - but no one advised us. Got to the room and the blow dryer and remote control did not work. Had a large room with 2 double beds just above the main CP Rail line that runs through Calgary. The rail is very noisy all hours of the night. Sound proofing is required.
“Not Impressed”
I have stayed at other Fairmount Hotels and the Pallister is the worst I have stayed at. My room was filthy. The carpet I could not walk on in bare feet as it was too soiled, teh bathroom floor had urine stains around the toilet. I moved to a second room for the next night and the conditions were about the same. A complete re-do is in order.
“Beautiful hotel with lovely history”
The Palliser is a lovely hotel with nice historical details. Our only complaint (very minor and I find this at all hotels/motels now) was that the corners of the room and behind things the carpet was dirty. Otherwise-pleasant staff, beautiful surroundings, and comfortable beds at an affordable price. Hope some day to go back.
“Calgary's best hotel”
This hotel has the long legend, so the building looks older. However I didn't feel discomfort. Each amenity is very good and the space of rooms is large enough. The quality of furniture in rooms is high level.
“terrible service! Don't expect much!”
You would expect exceptional service for the price you pay....don't expect much. We stayed at the Palliser for a wedding that was happening at the hotel. We called ahead to get an early check in for 1:00pm (regular check in is at 3) so we could have enough time to get settled and get ready for the wedding at 4:30. We showed up at the hotel at 3:30 and our room was not ready and they said they had no room available for us. Being very adament that I needed a room to get ready for the wedding, they finally caved and gave us a room. We had booked 2 queen beds so our 5 year old daughter could have the other bed but all they had was a king room. We took it and they brought a cot for her to sleep on. Not perfect but at least we had a room to get ready in. When we finally got in our room and tracked down the rest of the family, we came to learn that the hotel room that they had given us (to shut me up) was the room that my mother-in-law was patiently waiting for (even though she was promised an 11AM check-in). Pick a different hotel.
“Heritage Hotel-small rooms”
When we first arrived we were put into a very small room with a "queen" size bed. It was the smallest "queen" we had ever seen , the bathroom was so small you had to shut the door before you could turn around. I asked the front desk if this was indeed a queen room, she assured me it was. I said the bed was definitely not a queen and the room was not as described when we booked it. She immediately assigned us to a King room at no extra charge and we were extremely pleased with the room , the bed and the overall decor. We had a great stay. Close to Zoo, And the hopping Stephen aveunue shops and downtown mall. Lots of great eateries within walking distance. Had a very nice stay. Parking was extremely expensive,, upwards of $50. a day.
“Wonderful Stay”
I cannot say enough good...absolutely nothing to complain about. We got a great price for our room and we weren't getting our hopes up that our room would be anything special for the price we paid but the room was beautiful! Freshly renovated very clean nice large windows and high ceilings...you can feel the elegance and age of the hotel everywhere you go...and the kids loved it especially the pool. We would absolutely stay there again the next time we are in Calgary.
