Property Amenities
The original downtown centre of Calgary was located 10 blocks to the east of The Fairmont Palliser. The completion of the Edwardian commercial-style luxury hotel in 1914 resulted in the downtown core being relocated around The Palliser. These stores and shops were established on what is now historic Stephen Avenue Walk. In keeping with the sandstone construction of The Fairmont Palliser, Stephen Avenue Walk buildings are also made of sandstone. Stephen Avenue Walk is a vibrant centre of downtown life, home to 350 shops and 35 restaurants and pubs. The theatre district anchors the east end of this five-block cobblestone pedestrian walk. There are ten nightclubs within blocks of the hotel, giving guests the choice of dance, rock, country or jazz music. Most nightclubs offer live music on the weekends.
The Fairmont Palliser is also located next to another city landmark; The Calgary Tower—complete with observation lounge and revolving Panorama room restaurant. Also nearby, the Calgary Zoo is the 10th largest in North America and offers a diverse activities for families on the weekends (the Calgary Zoo is five minutes by car or ten minutes by Public Light Rail Transit/LRT).

“Beautiful”
Beautiful hotel. Reminds me of a time when service and quality were still important.
“the best in calgary”
very nice hotel the staff was fantastic very inviting very pleased will stay here every time we come to calgary
“Wonderful service”
One of the nicest hotels I have ever been to, my family and I were so happy, pleased and impressed. We got more customer service than we expected. The room was spectacular and the beds were very comfortable. We would love to go back again.
“Great charater and location!”
Niced and best place to stay in Calgary, period. Great charter and location. I paid extra to upgrade to Gold and it was worth it. I payed less than the on-line price for Gold because I bought it at the desk at check-in and they offer it for less if they have availability.
“So pretty”
Beautiful hotel and room. But we were also very drunk. Unfortunately too drunk to fully enjoy it. Blast. Next time.
“Outstanding, special”
Fairmont is always great, but this one was really something special. Had a Fairmont Gold room with a separate guest lounge and breakfast area, which was a nice touch. The bar on Friday night had a good singer too. Nicely Canadian, nicely mellow. Would return in a flash if ever in Calgary again.
“Very comfortable”
Loved this hotel, very helpful staff and comfortable rooms.
“Stately landmark Paliser Hotel”
A lovely stay at this stately landmark in our city. The Palliser gives you a feel for the history of Calgary.
“Refurbished old railway hotel.”
A classy railway hotel. The rooms are a little small but lots of room. Great lounge for having a drink and snacks. One of my favourite hotels to stay when visiting Calgary.
“Beautiful old building”
I love this hotel. There are not many places where you can get really well made cocktails but this is one. Food also is excellent. Staff is accommodating in general. Desk staff sometimes a little bit cranky but not big deal. The building is beautiful and worth staying there just for that. Beautiful building right downtown. A piece of old Canadian architecture and character which Calgary has tried to generally stamp out. If I was super rich I think I would live here.
