“Clean but....cheap”

The Aclaim is the most convienent hotel to the Calgary Airport save the Delta that is right in the airport at more than 2x the price. The hotel is new, the lobby and common areas are clean and comfortable. The image that they are going for is upscale sheik but some of the room admenities are just too cheap to pull it off. To put this in perspective ts like the guy who makes minimum wage showing you his Rolex, It looks nice but feels fake. For instance they have a small off-brand LCD TV in the bathroom. The TV did not have any cable so 40 channels of static is less than useful. The TV is in a rack next to the shower and while there is no chance that it will fall into the shower the mositure that gathers on the screen tells me that it will be in the recyler soon enough. The wall paper in the bathroom was slightly peeling in places again from the moisture and there was some roof panel in the corner that looked like it was only 1/2 in place. They have a very high tech looking jet spray / shower system but the feel is plastic not real crome and the awsome looking shower head had already lost a few of the spray nodules (also plastic) so its spray was not perfect. The water system doesn't put out enough pressure to work both the jets and the shower head and the jets on full don't put out much more than a limp attempt at a spray. It may sound like I am being picky but its like the guy who makes minimum wage showing you his Rolex, It looks nice but feels fake.

“very satisfied”

found the staff to be very friendly, courteous, helpful and prompt. The bed was very comfortable, bathroom tub was surprisingly big for a 3 star hotel. Having a attached hotel was nice. Out in an commercial part of city would make it difficult to walk anywhere, however, very close to airport if that is required. Also great that they have free DVDs to use. Would definitely stay again. Was nice that is minutes from Crossiron Mills mall.

“Great Airport Hotel”

Though the rooms were a bit smaller than expected, the overall quality was excellent. Free internet was fast. Room includes 20 free mins of North America calling each day saving on US cell roaming cost to call home - nice touch. Staff was friendly, food and bar were great. Fast and comfortable shuttle to the airport. More upscale than the star rating would indicate.

“Great Airport location”

Friendly and helpful front counter staff, great location and just minutes away from the airport + shuttle service. Restaurant has great food and good service. We will definately stay again.

“Excellent value”

This is not a classic architecture. Nor is the neighborhood appealing. The hotel is 5 min north of the airport, surrounded by steel warehouses and asphalt. If you like jogging trails or some down time by the river, this is not your choice. The staff are hospitable and helpful, including the room maids, bartender, as well as the usual smiling desk staff. The rooms are nicely appointed with hotel brown, tawny and black modern. There are two hot tubs on the roof and expansive prairie stars.

Dining

Pacini's restaurant is adjoining the hotel. It has fresh salads and a moderate wine list. There is a grill where customers can toast their own choices of various gourmet breads. However, nobody paid me for cooking.

“Very impressed!”

Thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Acclaim hotel...beautiful room, amazing shower heads in the shower and a TV to watch while soaking in the tub! Would definitely go back again!

“Not ready for Prime Time”

We checked in late at night and the room was ready and the manager was very courteous. The hotel is close to the airport in an industrial park setting. My major complaint is although it advertises free wi-fi it did not let me sign on to my company VPN. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE FOR ME AS IT WOULD BE FOR MOST TRAVELERS WHO NEED TO KEEP UP OR DO BUSINESS COMMINACATIONS The front desk person said that they had complaints like that previously from other travelers who do business as their network has no protection and that most professionally run VPN would not allow guest to log on. I was pretty irate because one would assume if they provided free Wi-Fi as a benefit and as an inducement to stay at their hotel they would have thought of this and remedied the situation. I spoke to the G.M. who was very professional and tried to see if I could use their corporate log on but it did not happen.I would not have stayed there if I would have known about this issue. It is a relatively new hotel that offers no breakfest included or other benefits and to not be able to send nor receive e-mails is not good for any business traveler. JK from Ga.
