“Huge Appartment, Beautiful Pools”
We were in a party of 4 and stayed here for 1 week, the room was huge and it was very clean. I loved every minute of my stay. It was great to have access to each f the thee pools. I have been to cairns previously and while i liked the hotel i stayed in last time I prefer this one as it is bigger and is a resort rather than a hotel. When I return to Cairns this is where I will be staying.
“Would Love To Go Back!!”
We loved The Lakes! It's close enough to the airport as well as to downtown Cairns. Wouldn't recommend the spa for a massage. They didn't have a professional masseuse and it was a waste of money. The restaurant right off of the lobby is excellent!
“Great Place”
We had a beautiful apartment at a very reasonable price. It was very comfortable and everything I had hoped it would be. If going back to Cairns, we would definitely stay there again.
“Excellent Value”
Stayed at The Lakes for 4 nights in Jan'07. It exceeded our expectations for the price paid. Had booked a single bedroom apartment but was given a two bed. Apartments were modern, spacious and well maintained with every amenity needed for self catering. There is also a Bistro serving reasonable food and a restaurant which we did not use also located on site. Service at reception was prompt, friendly and efficient with a small shop well stocked with necessities. There are four pools with adjacent sand pits ideal for children. Grounds are well landscaped and maintained to a very high standard. Location is close to the airport which was great as we had an early morning flight. However, it is about 3KM from Cairns central. There is an hourly bus shuttle and for the energetic it is an easy walk although the return walk after dark was not too pleasant. Overall, would recomend the location highly for anybody who wants a base for touring or for a quite family location. Its not for those who want to be close to the hustle and bustle of Cairns city life.
“Excellent family stay”
We stayed just two (split) nights on way to and from an overnight dive boat trip but could see that a longer stay at The Lakes resort would be merited. The large two bedroom apartment was perfect. We had one meal (seafood buffet) in the resort restaurant where food was great. Atmosphere of restaurant is basic but adequate for family. All in all a very nice place to stay and good value for amenities.
“Amazing!!!”
With the price that we paid for the hotel room, we weren't expecting much. When booking the room, we had the choice between a name-branded hotel and The Lakes. We just wanted a room to rest in with a kitchen. However, the Lakes at Cairns was much more than what we imagined! The rooms were very clean, came with a living area, full kitchen, balcony, bedroom and bathroom (with a jet tub). There were 4 pools available for swimming, a gym, a spa, and a few restaurants. The hotel was set up as a village, and thus made it more attractive. The staff at the hotel were friendly and quick. I would recommend The Lakes and would definetly stay there again.
“Loved it, would like to go back.”
Every thing you would expect of a four star resort, the gardens and pools were beautiful, there is a resturant within the complex very reasonable prices and happy hour every day between 5@6 pm, or you could cook your self, two minutes walk from the Botanic gardens which are worth seeing as there are some neat tracks for walking, over all it was a great place for a family holiday.
“Great Resort”
Great resort. Great facilities for family. Wonderful resturant. Away from the Central Business District so had to rely on hotel transportation or local bus service since we had no auto.
“They are ideally located and a very nice place.”
Loved the beautiful environment and set up specially the pool. The suite was like a furnished apartment with cooking and laundry facilities. We were able to cook our own meal and wash some clothes.
“Clean, cool, comfy.”
Stayed here for just one night, as we needed a place to meet a family member as we flew into the Cairns airport from different directions. This place was perfect for us. Spacious two bedroom apartment, with good air conditioning and ceiling fans, a nice little kitchen and decent amenities like plates and silverware. Since we were tired, we ordered a pizza delivered from a nearby pizzeria, and that was yummy too. Hotel staff very friendly.
