“Charming and Romantic - Made Our Trip”
I cannot heap enough praise on El Convento. It and its wonderful views and service were the highlight of our trip to Spain. The rooms are comfortable and charming, the balconies offer one of the best views in Spain, and the service was everything you'd hope for. The town of Arcos and El Convento are must-do's while in Spain.
“outstanding!”
I e-mailed the hotel for directions and they responded right away with good instructions. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room quaint, spotless, with a breathtaking view. The location was perfect.
“El Convento was great”
Delightful and helpful staff, amazing and beautiful view, a wonderful place to stay.
“simple, but clean, with breathtaking views”
Incredible view from room was best surprise, plus very friendly and professionnal staff. The bathroom was nice and huge, but the room was basic, as you would expect for a hotel with less stars. Breakfast was good and in the reception/breakfast aera, there is a computer for guests' use. There is not much to see and do in Arcos, and the choice of restaurants is limited, so we were glad we stayed just one night. We were also glad we did not have a car: the streets in old town are extreemely narrow: going up there by car is stronglly discouraged. We took a cab from bus station (only 7 euros)and minibus nearby hotel to return - not a good idea if you have big suitcases.
“Very Nice”
There are really two hotel possibilities in Arcos-- the Parador and El Convento. They are literally half a block apart, share the same view, and both have nice service. El Convento is smaller and the service is more personalized. El Convento has wonderful sun patios off each room. Since we were celebrating a birthday-- we were greeted with Champagne and fruit-- nice touch. Would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Arcos.

Area:
Arcos de la Frontera, Spain: In a spectacular position high in the hills, this is the finest of all Andalusias ipueblos blancos/i (white villages). Its whitewashed labyrinthine old town climbs up and cascades back down the ridgeline. The main plaza is occupied by the town hall, two striking churches built on Arab fortresses, and an historic parador. One side of the square opens to a sweeping view over open countryside and a river gorge.
