Buxton, located on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, is home to the 208-foot-tall (63 meters) Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, the tallest brick lighthouse in the United States. Some of the nation’s finest ocean surf fishing can be found at a location known to locals as “The Point.” Buxton also houses the largest maritime forest along the North Carolina coast, the Buxton Woods Coastal Reserve.
