"This April 2014 two nights two rooms"
Rooms were great, and we were given an upgrade for one of two rooms we booked online. Reception staff very helpful though not always good in English. Comfortable beds and pillows. But only one of two lazy boys in our room were working. Overall, very good hotel with good location with bus stops right outside the hotel.

"Lakeside hotel in countryside"
Hotel is located in 15 minutes drive from Gyeongju and it is better to have a rental car to travel around. There is a contemporary art museum next to it and Starbucks is down the road. There is a very good Korean barbecue restaurant and a variety coffee shops in 10 minutes walk. Hotel is well maintained and clean. We found out at the arrival that a swimming pool is closed for refurbishment and the pool was main point to choose this hotel. It has not been reflected at Expedia when we made our booking. Staff at reception was very accommodating and reacted well on our frustration about closed pool. They offered us a complementary breakfast for our family for the duration of our stay to make up for the in on inconvenience.

"Nice Hotel; Bad A/C"
This hotel has the potential to being fantastic. However, since we were there in July, the heat of the summer, the air conditioning should have worked. It did not. It was nearly impossible to sleep for the four nights we were there. Also, being the summer, it would have been nice if the outdoor pool had water in it.

"Korean Family Experience"
Tavo House is a family guest house business and I didn't know this when a booked but it turned out to be an excellent opportunity to interact with a Korean family. Both Mr. and Mrs. Lee were great and their son was pretty cool too, I had some good conversations with him. and the grand mother is there too an interesting lady. On my last day, Mr Lee took me and other guest on an early morning (6AM) tour of some important places in the city. It was great. I highly recommend Tavo House.

"Comparable to love motel; needs work."
It has "hotel" in its name, but it's a motel in disguise. Korean love motels are generally pretty cheap (~ 50.000 WON; less than 50 USD) and probably cleaner than 2.5-3 star hotels as they are extremely diligent with their cleaning, but they do not take online reservations. They take walk-ins for the most part. Hilton down the street had terrible reviews, so I went with Swiss Rosen since they take online reservations and I paid much more than the typical love motel rate. I had no idea there were so many hotels and motels in the area. If I had more confidence that I would find a place to stay without making a reservation, which is very common in Korea, I wouldn't have made the reservation. Due to the marathon weekend, anything I could find online was completely sold out for the weekend, so I ended up visiting Gyeongju during the week and spent a Thursday night at Swiss Rosen. I am Korean (currently living in the US), so the language was not a problem at the front desk, but for foreigners, it might be a challenge (my travel companion does not speak Korean). The bedroom itself was fine and the bed was pretty comfortable, but the bathroom needed a thorough disinfecting and general maintenance as it had a lot of mold, cigarette marks, and cracks everywhere. We had a friend showing us around Gyeongju by car during the day and took the train back to Seoul. It's about a 35 minute cab ride to Singyeongju KTX train station.

"Nice hotel, but far from the action"
The Suites had wonderful staff and quite tasty room service. If we asked for anything, we got it. Two problems, however: one, the "Korean style" bedding is a very, very thin futon...actually, it feels more like you're sleeping on a thin comforter, particularly as there are marble floors in the beautiful rooms! Additionally, the hotel is a bit far from most of the tourist stuff in Gyeongju. Still, a pleasant staff and a beautiful room overall...we were very happy to stay here and would again (in a bed!)

"Highly recommended hotel far from central Gyeongju"
This is a really nice hotel with quality rooms. It's the kind of place that everyone is always smiling at you and opening the door. If you can't handle that, just take the elevator down to the parking level is exit that way to avoid the pomp and circumstance. One thing to keep in mind is the hotel is probably about 10 km from Gyeongju central. It's easy to take the bus there but it just means you'll rely on the bus. There are bike paths around the lake and into Gyeongju so that's another option. Either way, it's not so easy to just pop out for a walk around Gyeongju or find a supermarket/restaurant. The food/coffee is really expensive at the hotel. If you don't mind commuting by bus/bicycle/foot, this is a great hotel is nice location by the lake.
