“Excellent hotel in great location”
Spotlessly clean hotel located close to Metro 1 and popular tourist areas. Located on a pedestrain mall with some bars and cafes. Rooms are spacious and quiet and in top condition. A five minute walk gets you to Metro 1, the oldest in Europe, and down to the Danube River and great shopping. Highly recommended, as is Budapest, a very elegant city with friendly people.
“Can't wait to go back”
An amazing hotel, with a perfect location! The best thing about it was the service and the lovely notes every morning on the bed! A true haven in the centre of the city.
“Met all of our criteria”
My husband and I stayed a week at the Opera Garden, the only hotel in Budapest that met all of our criteria for an excellent stay after researching hotels for months before booking. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance to most major sites and situated on a quiet pedestrian street near the Opera. Prices are very reasonable for the quality received and for allergy sufferers, a non-smoking environment added to the comfort. The anti-allergenic room was spotless and looked brand new (corner room 308, an Executive Double with extra space and a four post bed was a delight). A delicious hot and cold breakfast buffet was included and managed by courteous staff. The front desk employees were most helpful and professional. The rooftop terrace is worth a visit and if you have time, there is also a sauna and whirlpool which we did not use. Hungarians in the tourism industry speak English but using simple words of etiquette are met with much appreciation all around the city. We appreciated the little extras that started and ended our day such as the quote of the day left on our bed each morning, a small pronunciation guide to basic phrases, and the complimentary sangria. Be sure to take the hop on hop off bus, a cruise on the Danube, try the subway which is a good value, clean, safe, and efficient, experience a folklore show in the evening, and do not miss the Central Market! Budapest is a true treasure to discover with the Opera Garden as your home base.
“An excellent base to see the city”
Stayed for 5 nights in April 11. Booked hotel on basis of good reviews on Tripadvisor and it really did live up to the comments. Our room was very well equipped - perhaps would have preferred a settee rather than the kitchenette, but enough space and quite quiet, as on a pedestrianised street. Newish bathroom with good quality fittings and towels. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and the staff readily provided decaf coffee when I asked for it. There is also a lovely roof terrace. Reception staff were always friendly and were helpful to us in booking a trip. We found the hotel an excellent base from which to explore the city on foot - but if needed, the metro was only a couple of minutes away. We found a varied selection of restaurants and cafes within a short distance of the hotel. It is also, as the name implies, very near the magnificent opera house so we took advantage of that by going to a concert there and an opera. (Book online from the first of the previous month). Really liked Budapest - and our trip was enhanced by excellent weather!
“Superb”
Hotel was absolutely brilliant. Top class service, location and room.
“Very Impressed”
Just returned. 2nd trip to Budapest. Fantastic Hotel, Very Good location, Clean & Modern Rooms, Free Wifi, Breakfast choice very good although the breakfast room was a little cramped. In the Summer they use the Courtyard which would provide more room. Definitely go back to this hotel. Reception staff very friendly & helpful. Hotel is situated near to bars & restaurants but surprisingly very little noise. Complimentary Hot wine in the evening was most welcomed given how cold it was in Budapest.
“Wonderful hotel, wonderful location, great breakast”
Made a last minute reservation to this hotel because of other reviews. My wife and I were extremely satisfied. - staff was very friendly and took care of us - very clean - wonderful location, could walk everywhere even to train station - fantastic sauna room - free breakfast buffet was very good
“Perfect Hotel in Perfect Area in wonderful City”
We loved the Opera Garden. Newly renovated in modern style yet retaining elements of the old. Everything sparkling clean and new, well appointed public areas and rooms. Very friendly helpful English speaking service. Our room (#106) faced the street (Zichy Jeno) but was quiet due to the heavy windows. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of foods, even sautéed mushrooms and potato-onion croquettes to go with our scrambled eggs. A perfect location with a short distance from the Opera metro (M1) and the Arany J (M3) stations. The very attractive pedestrian street outside had many outdoor cafes, several convenience stores and beautiful old-style buildings in good repair. Café Callas with its great food, music, and relaxed elegant atmosphere was just 2 blocks away. Even with all the cafes, the surrounding area did not seem particularly touristy, but many locals and perhaps Eastern European tourists. The hotel is close to the striking Andrassy Ut and Bacsjy boulevards. Easy walking distance up to the many good restaurants at Liszt ter and to Szabatsag ter park with its beautiful historic buildings. We enjoyed going there in the evenings to watch people let their dogs play. Easy direct metro to Hero's Monument, Elizabeth Ter, and Szechenyi baths. We were there 6 nights and could easily have stayed longer. I wish I had the words to describe the hotel and the surrounding area. So many wonderful sights, beautiful buildings and museums in Budapest.
“Budapest's best small hotel”
Excellent....would definitely recommends. Staff excellent as were the rooms and facilities.
