The first room they offered the central heating wasn’t working, they had put a substitute tiny oil heater in the room instead. The bathroom had no heating at all. I immediately went to reception and told them that the room wasn’t satisfactory and asked for a different room. Without hesitation they allocated us a lovely warm room, so I was happy. The staff in bar/breakfast very good.

Hotel is set in beautiful grounds with views over the golf course. We had a lovely room opposite the bar and restaurant set in a small courtyard.The staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay which was booked because of the location near to Bath Racecourse. We would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to visiting again in the future! Thanks.

Lovely relaxed feeling, this hotel is set on beautiful surroundings with lots of original features which is fab to see with old builds. Very closed to Bath so would recommend staying here

Room was nice, though was very hot and stuffy. No drinking water in the room, which for the price paid, should be provided. Breakfast was standard buffet fayre, would be nice to have fresh cooked breakfast.

Bathroom was dirty :- black mould in the shower, sink sealant disintegrated and dirty, dust on surfaces. Cobwebs on windows and on table lamp in the main room. We ate in the restaurant on our first night. There were a number of golfing groups in the restaurant which made it extremely noisy but we were not offered the chance to eat in a quieter location.This hotel is advertised as a golf and country hotel and should cater for both golfers and non-golfers.

Bath Christmas market
Had a lovey stay. We stayed for one night whilst visiting Bath Christmas markets. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had a luxury twin which was very spacious and well equipped. Would definitely stay again and happy to recommend.

Great place to stay for visiting Bath. All the staff were excellent and truly knew the value of great customer service. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to friends and family.

The whole room was infested with hundreds of dead and dying flies. I was astonished that the Manager seemed to think that this is acceptable for a country hotel. Ours was not the only room affected and this appears to be a regular occurrence Have never experienced anything like this in the past Would not recommend staying here

Great hotel close to racecourse
I stayed here as my mother and I went to the races and thought this would be a good place to stay. The rate was pretty cheap for the 2 of us with breakfast included. The staff were extremely friendly, upon check in, the receptionist actually showed us to our room and where to go for breakfast in the morning. The room was very comfortable and clean! I would definitely come back again and recommend to anyone staying in bath.

A peaceful retreat
We were travelling from Birmingham to Torpoint for a weeks holiday and booked this hotel for one night to break the journey - Also it was my husband's birthday and thought it would be nice to try somewhere new. - Fabulous place - Receptionist was friendly and informative. Food was excellent however limited menu if staying more than a couple of nights

lovely old hotel. Breakfast was great. The gentleman who served us at breakfast was a real asset to the hotel. Very professional, knew history of house and very welcoming! Would recommend .

Disappointing stay
No water came out the shower, not very helpful with my partners dietary requirements leaving her very ill, when contacting the hotel about my partner being ill, I was told that it was my fault not approaching them on the day even though she had to rush to work feeling very unwell.

Room allocation is vital and varies greatly
This was the third time I stayed at this hotel and sadly this was probably my worst experience. Previously I have stayed in the Carriges (fabulous room, spacious and luxurious) and then I stayed in the Coach house (quirky & cute but very thin walls). This time I was allocated a room within the main courtyard. Room 20 to be exact. At first I was amazed, the room itself is effectively a suite, had it's own lounge with a long corridor stretching down to a spacious bedroom. The bathroom had a full bath as well as a stand alone shower. I was genuinely very happy with the room allocation. However, this changed firstly when the occupants of the room above the bedroom arrived, which I believe is room 19. The entrance for this room is directly outside the bedroom for room 20 and the floor above is not quiet. Next came the staff who were using the gravel pathway that ran directly down the side of the bedroom and past the bedroom window in the evening and then again from 6am the following morning. But these are both minor in comparison to the fire escape light x 2 in the room. Something I didn't become aware of until I literally got in to bed so it was too late to be changing rooms. There are one of these lights in the hallway and then one in the bedroom, almost above the bed and they have a green light on them that light up the entire bedroom. so you tuck yourself up into bed, ready to sleep, switch the room lights off and you can still see everything but with a green glow.

Lovely Hotel
Lovely hotel. We were upgraded upon arrival, which was a pleasant surprise. We were also personally shown to our room by one of the reception staff, which was a lovely touch. The room was extremely spacious, comfortable and clean. The surrounding area was also nice with a pub just down the road called the Rose and Crown that I would recommend. Would definitely stay again.

The main problem - it’s 25 degrees! The room has a small window which is at floor level and it only opens 6 inches - the room was like an oven. Water pressure was non existent. Showering under a trickle is not helpful. Breakfast was just ok. Nothing at all special.

Positive points. Peaceful location on the outskirts of Bath. Lovely views. Good breakfast. Pleasing standard of accommodation. Very clean rooms. Lots of parking. Less positive points Hotel could be made excellent with some changes – e.g. ensure water runs hot, adequate lighting (one room we used was particularly gloomy in the day), supply a leaflet with information about hotel (e.g. mealtimes, where food is served, where to find/how to use light dimmers/heating controls, what room facilities were available). We were given different guidance on different weekdays about whether chef was able to make porridge at breakfast (not available from buffet but available on Sunday menu). Loud dance music at breakfast such that we had to raise our voices to speak.
