“Not impressed”
Very disapointed in my room - it was up on the 12th floor and WAY down the hall from the elavators AND there were hardly any people staying there - then, the TV must have been 10 years old, VERY small - probabbly a 15" . I called and ask if they didn't have a better room - not so high up and with a nice TV. They said no, you are in a standard room and all our standard rooms have that size TV. Oh well, I told them - live and learn - this will be my first and last time to stay here.
“Rooms need a major makeover and cleaning”
First, this hotel needs more than a little sparkle. It needs a complete makeover. I would say the carpeting in the room has not been cleaned for a number of years. You would not want to walk barefoot in this room. You should wear slippers or shower shoes. If you shower and shave you should be quick because the water will be over your ankles before you finish. If you look at the corners in the elevators you will see they have not been cleaned for years. However, let me say the staff was very friendly for my entire stay. I did not see one sour face or hear one bad comment. They went out of their way to be more than helpful on every occasion. The buffet where I ate three times a day had a menu but I ate from the buffet and let me say that I was extremely impressed with the quality and service of the food. The buffet area was very clean, the staff was very punctual and friendly. There is a cafe that is supposed to be open 24/7, however, you will not find anyone there. You have to make a noise to let them know you're there and they will come to the front quickly. I have stayed in many hotels from dives to 5 star. I would rate this hotel a dirty Motel 6. I would stay there again with the exception of the cleanliness of the rooms. The hotel was acceptable. The casino had one cent, five cent & 25 cent slot machines. I did not see any $1 slot machines. The casino was not full or crowded at any time that I saw it. I only saw one semi truck in the parking lot. I spent one week there.
“Older casino”
Good service , good location when travelling - could use some up grade in rooms - food good and prices
“Nice no frills accomadations”
This is a no frills hotel.Easy 40 minute drive from Mcarren. The room was neat and clean, dated appearance, few amenities. No bar soap was provided, just foam soap dispensers.Shampoo and conditioner are provided.Plenty of fresh towels.Hair dryer and iron are not provided.Bed sheets are not changed unless you put a provided "tent" on the bed indicating that you want them changed.Expect the housekeeping staff to put the tip envelope on the tent after they change your sheets. There are several eating options including a steak house,a fast food deli and a buffet style restaraunt. At the buffet you can order from a menu or take food from the buffet.Variety was limited compared to typical Las Vegas buffets, but all the food was hot and flavorful. Prices were ridculously low.All internet access will cost you by the day. The casino is relatively small, but very lively on the weekend.Along with a wide assortment of slots and video poker, they offered low stakes craps, roulette, three card poker,single,double,6 deck blackjack. The blackjack games have favorable rules, but they probably do not tolerate heavy action.Everyone was playing table minimums or stacks of red chips.I did not see any green action and they do not even have black chips in their racks. They also offered a low stakes texas holdem poker tournament. If not enough signed up for a tournament, they would have a pot limit cash game. The hotel is isolated. Free drinks for gamblers. Live entertainment some nights.Staff is friendly.
“Needs updating”
This hotel looks great on the outside. View of lake is amazing however the interior desperately needs updating! The bed was uncomfortable and the bathroom looked like it was done in the 70s. Carpet and flooring updates would greatly improve this room. Huge breakfast buffet was good(not included). Location is very convenient to Hoover Dam. Too bad it's not a more pleasant place to stay.
“Beautiful location”
Although the room was very dated (like 80's era furnishing and TV), it was clean and fairly comfortable except for really flat pillows. What made the stay so nice was the location. Very close to Hoover Dam and the Lake Mead Recreation Area. A great view from the room (12th floor) of the lake & marina. The hotel has very convenient access to superb hiking trails right from the parking lot. Not a gambler so can't really rate the casino and the food was so-so.
“Good Place to stay if you out at Lake Mead”
I would recommend this hotel if you are wanting to stay close to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. It has a decent buffet and decent but small casino. A little older in looks and feel but very decent for the price.
“Beautiful Surroundings!!!”
We were very pleased with this hotel and the view of Lake Meade!! There is everything you need all in one building! They could do a better job of letting people know about what ammenities are available in the hotel. We didn't know until we checked out that the hotel contains a movie theater, and we would have wanted to go see a movie!!! Also, the hotel itself is nice (the lobby, property, etc.) but the rooms are very outdated and could really use a facelift.
“Satisfactory For The Price Paid and Location”
My children and I stayed at this hotel while on a road trip out west. The hotel is ideally located if you're visiting the Hoover Dam. It's just a few minutes away. If you're on a gambling trip, I think you'd be happier staying in Vegas. On the positive side, the pool was nice and clean, the rooms were cool and, again, it's very close to Hoover Dam. On the negative side, the room TV is very small and old, the room bathroom is poorly lite (it was like taking a shower by candle light) and, to me, the hotel had an overall "Vegas in the 80's" feel about it. Additionally, one of the elevators was out of order during our stay. Other guests told me that the elevator had been out several days. Overall, for the price paid and location, I'd stay there again.
“Great experience”
