“Excellent hotel”

Excellent hotel, helpful staff, lovely pool, very good breakfast buffet, very good value for money. We would be delighted to stay there again. It would have been nice if there had been an English television station. The only English language channel was CNN and the only BBC channel an Arab language one.

“Lovely Hotel”

The Aquabella lived up to our expectations. Staff were efficient, friendly and willing to help. We received a room with a Queen-sized bed - you need your passport to cross over to your partner! The view from the room included the garden and pool area. Guests receive a dressing gown for use in the pool area. The pool is of a good size and has been cleverly built into the town walls and only surviving tower, home to some friendly pigeons. Car parking is in the Spa car park 100m away. The Hotel validate your overnight ticket and bill you at the end of the stay - 5 Euros per night. We did not eat in the hotel. Breakfast at 16 Euros a head was too much. You can find a number of cafes which do breakfasts for 7 Euros each or you can have a coffee and pain chocolat for 4 Euros in one of a number of suberb patisseries. Aix itself has much to offer. Take the Tourist train at the start of the Cours Mirabeau by the Rotonde roundabout. The evening meals were the biggest disappointment. Most restaurants are only in operation to fleece you, I'm afraid. Salad would often consist only of rocket leaves. Only at the end of our ten nights did we find a restaurant near the cathedral which offered reasonable food. We used Aix as our base to visit Avignon, the Vaucluse including Gordes, Roussillon, Ile sur la Sorgue and Fontaine de Vaucluse, Port Grimaud and Saint Tropez. We have some lovely framed pictures of the area to remind us about our time there.

“GREAT TIME”

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Hotel was beautiful. The gardens and mineral pool area are amazing. The hotel provides you with a nice white robe. Every one wears the robe to the spa and pool area. The robe is also permitted at lunch in the restaurant. So relaxing! There were children at the hotel: however it is my feeling that this should be for adults only. The spa atmosphere is more relaxing without crying children. If you go, do yourself a favor and leave the kids with the grandparents.

“Great value for Provence”

The hotel was a surprise on a positive note. The service was friendly and english was not an issue. The room we booked was a suite and was surprising large for european standards. The accomodation , over all, were excellent. Everything worked including the A/C and it was nice to have a room safe. The hotel was located fairly close to the main street of Maribeau but everything was within walking distance to the historic center (10-15 minutes.) The grounds are beautiful and there's a great outdoor pool to enjoy. Their resteraunt is top notch but a little pricey. The room rates were about half of what we paid in Paris for the equivalent room. We will definitely stay there again when we go back next year.

“Thoughtfully appointed”

Although we stayed in the hotel's cheapest category of rooms, we were extremely happy with everything about it because, unlike in many hotels, we found everything we needed, from a mini frig to plenty of hangers to good lighting to adequate drawers and hooks, etc. Highly recommended!

“Hotel Aquabella Review”

Though a short hike to the edge of town from the train station, this is a lovely hotel, although perplexingly unmarked as you approach from downtown. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and the facilities were clean and luxurious. Good breakfast too. The spa connected to the hotel was the real reason I booked, and though the treatments are first rate, be prepared to sit around for a long time while they shepherd you through various treatments. If you have less patience, do fewer treatments, or just hit the pool (beneath a gorgeous medieval tower) or the jacuzzi, both of which are free. Highly recommended, though I would perhaps do it at the end of an exhausting trip rather than the beginning.

“Fantastic service, wonderful spa and restaurant”

Despite a somewhat unimpressive exterior, this was a fabulous hotel, gracious, friendly service, charming rooms and above all a wonderful spa and restaurant. The location was perfect, walking distance to everything, yet just at the edge of town so spacious enough for a garden and beautiful outdoor pool.

“Great Hotel!”

This seemed like a 4-star hotel. I was surprised it was only a 3-star. It shouldn't be. The on-site restaurant was elegant. . .the pool area was right next to the ancient gate and walk to the old town. The center of town was less than a 10 minute walk away.
