"More than I could have hoped for!"
The suites are literally like an apartment. For 4 girls to have a 2 bedroom place with 2 bathrooms AND for the price we paid, is incredible. The staff is super helpful and very friendly, and many of them speak English- a major plus in a country where everyone speaks Portuguese. Purchase the breakfast option if you can, it's a wide variety and can sustain you for most of the day while you're out exploring. Side note: They have American outlets in each room!!!

"Great staff and ambiance, but dirty"
I chose this hostel because it was VERY competitively priced during the World Cup. Because it was so much cheaper than hostels located in more touristy areas, I was a little worried about what I would find. In the end, I was very pleasantly surprised and left with an overall good impression of the place. Before saying anything about the facilities, I'll qualify my review by saying that it is a hostel. A lot of people seem to not understand what this means and arrive with ridiculous expectations. The dorm rooms (which sleep 8 - 12) are in a perfectly acceptable state, relatively clean, nothing disgusting like stains on the mattresses or cockroaches running around. The bathrooms and showers are in relatively good shape and were always in good working order, but really need to be cleaned more often! The AC didn't seem to do much and there was a bit to much noise a couple nights. The common spaces were nice and the bar offered fair prices. Breakfast was good. There were two staff members that spoke perfect English and were extremely helpful and welcoming. One of them is usually around except late at night. The others will try and do their best to help, but their English is minimal. That said, they are all incredibly nice and reactive if there is any problem. The location is in a safe area, but a little far from the metro (15-20 minute walk). That said, there are tons of busses and taxis and you can get anywhere in the city relatively easily.

"Excellent value for money"
I stayed here with my son during the World Cup and it was an excellent location for attractions and the Fan Fest at Copacabana. Although the room was very basic there was a nice lobby/ reception area with a bar where there was also an excellent breakfast. The hotel staff were very helpful in advising us where to visit and how to get around but they also were excellent in helping us out with problems we has with accommodation when we travelled onward to other cities by telephoning and sorting out reservations, etc. Don't be put off by the term hostel, I would describe it as a basic hotel, although the entrance at street level is not alluring once you go upstairs it's very nice. We would usually book a 3 or 4 star hotel when travelling but due to very limited availability and sky high prices during the World Cup we opted for here and I am delighted we did! If you are on a budget I don't think you could do better! Thank you very much to all the staff if you read this review!

"Week in Rio in November"
A budget hotel with a great breakfast menu, clean rooms, secure location and very friendly staff. I stayed in Rio for 5 days for a meeting and found this hotel conveniently located and reasonably priced. It is a standard IBIS economy hotel but what makes it stand out is that the staff were extremely helpful. They will give you directions, advice, set up wake up alarms, let you leave your luggage with them on the day of departure and will cater to most other reasonable requests.

    Botafogo Hotels Guide

Visitors can while away time in Botofogo’s shops, cafés, and cinemas. Its key attractions include the Villa-Lobos Museum and the Indian Museum. Botafogo straddles two of Rio’s best viewpoints: Corcovado mountain to the west and Pão de Açúcar (Sugarloaf) mountain to the east. In a city replete with landmarks, Corcovado has one of Rio’s best-known monuments: the 98-foot Christ the Redeemer statue.
