“Very pleased!”
I compared this hotel to several others in the area and selected it because of the parking, breakfast and internet were all included in the room rate. My wfe and I were very pleased with the entire experience. Like everything else in the area, it took a few tries to learn how to negotiate the one-way streets, etc. to get in and out of the parking lot. We plan to stay here when we visit the area again.
“Overall: Great...One negative”
First, this isn't 5-star, so we didn't expect 5-star. That said, we were very pleased. Extremely convenient to downtown Boston by T (transit system), safe & quiet neighborhood, free(!) parking, prompt & friendly front desk staff, efficient check-in/check-out, adequate hot/cold breakfast, comfortable bed, and enough space to relax. DOWNSIDE: Carpet could have used deep cleaning (but it was vacuumed). SPECIAL MENTION: Embarrassingly, we clogged the toilet. Our call to the front desk brought the clerk, plunger in hand, in less than five minutes. He plunged, left the plunger "in case you run into another problem", patted me on the shoulder, and returned to his desk duties. Kudos! We would definitely stay here again.
“Pleasantly surprised”
I recently went to Boston for a visit after having formerly lived nearby Brookline. I chose this hotel because of it was in my price range and was much closer/more convenient to Boston/in a safer neighborhood than other similar places, but I was skeptical due to the relatively low price. I was very happy with my stay. Location: While this hotel is not in the center of the city, it is about a block away from a T stop that will take you downtown. (15-20 min ride?) The neighborhood does not have much (other than a great tapas restaurant, Tasca) from a tourist point of view, but it is very safe (mostly full of students and recent grads) and it might be somewhat confusing if you aren't from the area but it is a great location. VERY convenient to BU and BC. Hotel details: Free continental breakfast, free parking, fridge and microwave in the room. Good enough for me. Slight downsides: Hotel rooms open to the outside instead of being enclosed/in a hallway. It was a little noisy, but not a big deal. The carpets were a little worn and it was clear that it wasn't the newest hotel. Again, didn't bother me but might be an issue for someone else. Conclusion: A great place to stay if you are looking for a home base to stay and take the T in and out of Boston during the day. I would definitely consider staying there again and have recommended it to family members who have kids in college in the area and need places to stay.
“Perfect for my needs”
I was working a few days in that area and was able to walk to the location. Tucked back into a more residential area, this Best Western was quite and clean with staff that were knowledgeable of the area and transit options. I had taken the red eye in and was hoping to just leave my bags, but they let me check in at 8AM.
“Easy on and off the Green Line”
I was attending Boston University's Alumni weekend with my 16 yo son. We only stayed one night until our rooms at a Kenmore Square B&B were ready. We reserved a king suite w/soafabed. When we checked in, the front desk guy said, "We had to upgrade you to a suite." (???) However, the suite was great with plenty of room with a kitchenette. I knew the area in college, but it's much improved with restaurants and Whole Foods Market w/in walking distance. The room was very clean, TV's in BR & LR extra blankets. For the $$, this was a good choice. It was an easy trolley ride from the Airport & back down to campus. When you get off at the T stop, you do have to haul your luggage up a HUGE hill on Comm Ave.. Recommend this hotel for location, privacy and free breakfast and involuntary exercise.
“Good location”
Good location for parents of college students living in Brighton/Alston area
“satisfying service for reasonable price.”
I was satisfied with everything except for the location. It was quite far from schools like Harvard and MIT but if you are aiming at BU or BC, it can be a viable option.
“Good value for decent location”
This was a decently priced hotel that was close to transportation to downtown Boston. Parking was free which was a bonus. The rooms were a bit outdated, but generally clean.
“Good place to stay for 3-4 days.”
If You visiting Harvard or Boston Univercities this is very convenient place to stay and affordable.
