“Comfortable, quiet hotel”
Quiet room, small and comfortable. Unfussy and just what we needed. Good value and I would return if going back to Bordeaux. My only extremely minor comment is that reception staff were not sure about details of access to the airport by public transport.
“Great place to stay for the weary!”
We stayed here for 1 night after spending the week in slightly cheaper hotels. The location is great - really central, and the rooms were very comfortable. I'd rather stay at an independent hotel for atmosphere, but as a last night treat it was great.
“Perfect location”
Excellent location in the almost totally pedestrianised zone. Near to shops, boutiques, Galeries Lafayette and restaurants. Compact room size but clean and equipped with effective airconditioning. Delicious continental breakfast.
“Bijou but beautiful”
This hotel is centrally located in the shopping and cafe district of Bordeaux. It is based in a wonderful turn of the century building with a most welcoming entrance and elegant staircase. Rooms tend to be small but well equipped and very clean. Highly recommended.
“Comfortable and convenient”
This hotel is comfortable and convenient; breakfast and service were good. Rooms were small but perfectly adequate and it was quite central. If you have lots of money and are looking for a top quality hotel this may not be the one for you, but, as a reasonably priced base for exploring Bordeaux and the area, it was fine. It does not provide an evening meal but there are plenty of nearby restaurants offering a huge variety of types and prices.
“très bon hôtel”
Situé dans les rues piétonnes, ultra calme, très bien équipé et personnel très sympa - bref un très bon hôtel à un prix raisonnable
“Great location, I'd use it again”
From the airport you can catch a shuttle bus that goes to Gare St Jean (ask at the Airport tourist info desk). Once on the bus ask to be dropped off at Gambetta. Once dropped off, with the help of a basic map, we were in the hotel within 2 mins ! I saw some mention on the net of problems experienced getting to hotels because central Bordeaux is a no-car zone - it is but taxis have special exemptions and the airport bus would get you within a gentle 10min stroll of most - best have a case with wheels. The Grand Francias was really close to the Gambetta bus stop. At reception the hotel told us that breakfast wasn't included in the price. This was very honest and upfront of them. Hotel was in a great location, right in the heart of the city. The room was on the small side but fully air-conditioned and all the usual amenities (shower/bath, mini-bar, coffee/tea/kettle etc). When we left on a Sunday the hotel booked a taxi that came straight to the door. Its about 30-35 euros to the airport. The taxi driver gave us a potted history of the city - very friendly the French ! By the way if you fancy a wine tour go to the Tourist Info (the one that isn't at Gare St Jean). We did the Art and Vin - a bit expensive but well worth it - a great long lunch !!
“Très bon rapport qualité-prix”
L'hôtel, un bel immeuble du 18ème siècle, est situé en centre-ville dans un quartier piéton. Possibilité de stationnement payant dans un rayon de 300 mètres. Les chambres sur rue (piétonne) sont plus agréables que les chambres sur cour, en raison de la vue. Bonne insonorisation des chambres entre-elles. Petit déjeuner tout à fait satisfaisant.
“Great location for a Bordeaux stay”
We were pleasantly surprised by our stay. The location was excellent ... only a five-minute walk to the center of everything and the staff couldn't have been nicer! They even arranged for a private wine tour of St. Emilion and surroundings! We would highly recommend this hotel.
“A Gem in the Herart of Bordeaux”
very smooth check in. Professional and friendly hotel staff. Larger than average room for a French hotel. Clean, comfortable and well decorated. The hotel is situated right in the heart of the old city. It really couldn't be in a better position.

Bordeaux, France: Once known as La Belle Au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty), Bordeauxs graceful neo-classical buildings have been restored, the leafy boulevards pedestrianised and the city of vintage wine is now wide awake.
