“10 wonderful nights in paradise!”
We stayed 10 nights at this wonderful relaxed resort with our 2 young children and gladly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a slice of paradise at a very affordable cost. Paradise bay is intimate, quiet and safe. The staff were very friendly and we instantly felt like part of the "family". I spent a number of late nights playing pool with the manager and staff! Try doing that at the "shangri la"! The hotel is an older one and the outside is showing signs of age due to the coastal conditions, but the rooms were clean. We stayed in the penthouse and was surprised by the space we got for the price, it was huge! At first we were disappointed at the rock hard mattress, but actually we slept well. The pool was stunning, clear and cool, great bar/dining area, a menu with incredible variety and they also had blackboard specials most nights as they have an award winning Austrian chef on site! Unfortunately Paradise bay beach is not great as it is quite windy with lots of sea weed, so we spent a lot of time at the pristine white beach which is only 15 minutes walk or just a few minutes by Tricy-cab (motor bike with side cart) which is a cheap and fun. Days at the hotel were spent relaxing around the pool, drinking cocktails! Without a doubt, the highlight of our stay was the friendly staff and service. We really felt at home! Overall this hotel was excellent value for money. We didn't want to leave! We will be back!
“Biggest mistake in all of my years of travelling. Disgusting.”
Paradise Bay Resort misrepresents itself with pictures on the internet. The grounds where just scrub and dirt. They try to spruce it up with beach shells but it just adds to the obvious run down state. The corridor leading to my room was thatched with large pieces missing and bare rotten wood showing. When it rained the water accumulated in large puddles adding to the already existing mould. The 'punch card' type key card entry did not work properly and gaining access to my room was always a problem as was obvious by the broken wood frame around the lock. A hole in the wall and rotten wood greeted me when I stepped out from my room into the impossibly narrow corridor. The childrens' activity centre consisted of a colouring book and crayons. There was a teeter todder with a broken sharp end of wood where the handle should be. The grounds where just dumpy. More of what you'd expect from a 1 star hotel. The beach??? Non existant. Filthy, rock strewn, and not appealling. Certainly not for families with children. To their credit the pool was clean but small and again misrepresented by the internet photos. The location was on the opposite side of White Beach and is remote and isolated. I was aware of this but I was lead to believe that this was a luxury resort and it would compinsate for the inconvenience of the location. The room was large and had a new flat screen T.V. The bathroom was newer but the lack lighting made it almost impossible for shaving ect.
