“Perfect location, excellent service”
I recently stayed four nights on business. The hotel is in a perfect location in the centre of the historic downtown. Walking distance to everything. The hotel itself was spotless and well appointed. Breakfast was very nice and the service at breakfast, at the bar, for food and the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. A great experience, thank you to the staff and management, you've got it right!

The location is the best, the staff is very professional, pleasant and reliable and the service is good. The rooms are not large, but this is usual in Europe. The bathroom is good, however. Free (good) breakfast and free Internet.

On arrival the staff were friendly and helpful - and continued to be so. Located in the heart of Bologna close to everthing ne would wish to visit. Great breakfast --- outside looking across the heart of the city. Only one downside --- need table umbrellas as the weather is so good. I'll be back!

Terrasses parfaites pour admirer Bologne et se réveiller au coeur de la vieille ville. Parking de l'hotel incontournable ou alors il faut beaucoup marcher. Rapport qualité-prix excellent. Personnel attentif, cadre inoubliable. Chambres désuètes mais très propres et fonctionnelles. Calme. A 2 pas du vieux centre ville.
“Perfect for a Perfect Venetian Night!”
The Hotel San Donato is a delightful hotel in the center of Bologna's University district - a short walk from the famous two towers, the main (shopping) street of Ugo Bassi and Via Independenzia, and the Piazza Maggoire. The majority of the guests are American and European, especially Germans, and the hotel staff provide very professional service and speak English competently. The concierge was able to help us make several dinner reservations. The rooms aren't tremendously elegant, but they are clean, cozy and comfortable, providing spacious bathrooms (the largest I've seen in Europe), satellite TV, and air conditioning. The rooms are surprisingly quiet, even with the crowded bars and restaurants on the streets below. Some rooms offer a small outdoor private terrace just off the bed. We found the bed to be very comfortable. One of the best features is a lovely outdoor terrace where you can nosh on the generously provided breakfast - fruits, juices, coffee, yogurt, eggs, sliced meats (salamis), granola, breads, and pastries. You can eat outside looking out over building rooftops and the towers. There is free wifi in the lobby and the bar area (there are many comfy couches) - but it does not work in guest rooms. My husband and I spent almost two weeks in Italy and most of our time was spent in Bologna. We greatly enjoyed having the San Donato as our home base.
“Perfect hotel in centre of town.”
Pleasant staff. Clean. Nice breakfast. Good decor. Enjoyed terrace and the views. 5 minutes walk from the centre. Free WiFi in room. No double room available in the nice wing of the hotel unfortunately (the front overlooking the street).
