Ecclectic

Posted 7-Apr-2014
Pros: It was very unique and different.
Cons: Marketed as "the modern" their website makes them look very clean and modern. In actuality it is one step above a motel 6 with very dark rooms.
Location: It is in the Linen district and downtown isnt too far away, but I would recommend a cab as it is in the fringe part of town.
Our service at the front desk was very good. We were dissapointed in the room as it was much darker than we expected it to be. The bar tender was very standoffish and did not make us feel welcome. We had heard great things about their cocktails and she was very disengaged in recommending any popular choices.

Underpromise. Overdelivered.

Pros: Right size, right ambiance, funky yet "Modern." Bar, food apps make it fun.
Cons: bigger dining area
Frequent guest at hotel. Just enough of the coolness without overdoing it. Pleased every time we stay!

I travel a lot. I loved staying at the Modern. The bar is outstanding and there's a great social scene for happy hour. Loved it!

Great place

This was my first time to the Modern. The staff were all awsome, helpful and always smiling. Had a G&T out by the fire out before I went to bed, that area and the bar are awsome. 4-7 happy hour during the week is a great gathering time and very well priced.

Pros: What i loved about this hotel was the new modern look and feel.
Cons: The rooms could use a few more electrical outlets.
Location: The hotel is conviently located downtown and close to airport.
This hotel was just what I needed. It was a great place to get some R&R. The room was comfortable and the stafff was very friendly.

Can't judge a book by it's cover!

Pros: Bathroom size, tub and shower. Keurig in the kitchenette, as well as a stocked fridge. Food selection was great, as was the beer and wine selection.
Cons: I prefer a softer bed, but otherwise I was overly impressed!
Location: Alas, I was in for business and had to continue working bright and early the next morning. Hopefully next time I'll have time to explore and have fun!
My fiance booked this hotel for me so that I didn't have to sleep in the bed in my truck for the 2nd night in a row. Being a truck driver, I've seen my share of hotels & dives over the past 17 years on the road, so when I pulled up in my rig out front and got my first glimpse of the place... well, lets just say I wasn't overly impressed. However, the thought of sleeping in the truck again and the fact that she'd already paid for the room... so I parked across the street (open parking from 6pm - 8am) and headed inside. The office was bright, cheerful and pleasing - just as the greeting I received from the girl at the front desk. When I stated that I had to print off an email, she informed me that they had a business center upstairs that would handle that with ease (and it did very well). There was a bar with a dining area to the left of the office, and it was enticing enough to warrant a visit later (the gnocchi and local beer selection are awesome). Opening the door to the room, I found myself walking into a small apartment rather than a hotel room. The bathroom is the size of my daughters bedroom and has a full sized tub and a walk in shower with a waterfall head that rains down from the ceiling. The atmosphere of the room was cozy and warm, which made me forget that it was a balmy 18 degrees outside. I left the next morning feeling spoiled and refreshed, and I told everyone the next day about my stay - recommending that they visit the next time they are in the Boise area.

Terrible beds/blankets

Been here several times and it used to be great but I think they changed the blankets. Stiff blankets and a mattress that needed to be replaced. Why can't you just get a soft blankets?

Not quite what I expected

Posted 11-Jan-2014 on Hotels.com
I have no problem staying in a renovated Travelodge or a regular Travelodge for that matter, but some of the upgrades in this place just sort of lay there. The shower tile reminded me of an old, cold locker room and the bathroom sink is almost pointless. The design and the angle don't make for good draining. Having said that, The rest of the room was fine but I felt they could include a mini fridge.
