Old charming hotel

Posted 11-Oct-2014
Pros: The decor, the staff and the convenient location all contributed to making our stay enjoyable.
Cons: Some of the maintenance work was a bit like I would do myself (i.e. not up to tradesman's standard).
Location: Located on a road parallel to the main street in Katoomba so it was convenient to shops, coffee lounges and restaurants. A longer walk to scenic spots
Age of the hotel has been used to advantage with decorations, furniture and facilities from an earlier period. Some old jazz and blues music in the background, comfy old armchairs and sofas, a cosy fire, and a small pool table. Staff were very friendly, helpful, efficient and answered all our "tourist questions". Within easy walking distance of restaurants. Limited off road parking but on street parking was safe enough.

Enjoyed our stay at this 1920's hotel

Posted 5-Oct-2014
Pros: 1920's decor, friendliness of staff, comfort of room, dining room and parking in rear.
Location: Nice location for exploring the Blue Mountains
Such a nicely appointed hotel. The dining room was lovely and the food really good. The staff was very helpful and had suggestions for the area. The room was fun and we loved the birds outside our window.

Great location, short walk to main street.

Posted 26-Sep-2014
Located a slight up hill walk to main street for eating. Try RSL club next door for affordable food, liqour purchase, ATM HoHo bus stops 100mtrs from reception. Take taxi from railway station if draging suitcases , $10 for 2 cheap. Coffee cafe attached is great value, but closes 5.00 pm

a little gem

Posted 13-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
Great staff, attentive to our requests and friendly, the sitting rooms were charming and Inviting luring you to sit buy the fire and have a drink. However the whole place is old , looks old feels old our bedroom was very small as was the bathroom but it was warm and clean. We got a bargain price and stayed 3 nights, in hindsight 2 nights in Katoomba is plenty. Our breakfast was included in our stay and was superb as was the dining room. The RSL is next door and the meals are extremely satisfying and safe,we had one meal in a restaurant in the main street and the chicken stunk!it was not eaten or payed for. We would stay here again, just for the friendly staff.

The perfect hotel!

Posted 29-Jul-2014
This hotel was everything we imagined. A step back in time, with the jazz music playing, cocktails at the bar, and the fire blazing. It was the perfect Christmas outside of Christmas. Breakfast was plentiful and our Christmas in July dinner was delicious. The room was small but clean. The staff were fantastic and there was so much to do in the lobby area. Pictures do not do this hotel justice. If you like that vintage look and feel, this is the hotel for you! We will be back next year for Yulefest.

Old world mountain charm

Posted 8-Jul-2014
Pros: Open fires and common areas were great, dining room and breakfast was excellent
Cons: Maybe a little work in the bathrooms
Location: Walk to Katoomba centre and short drive to scenic world.
The hotel is old world and fits into the mountains surrounding, if you are looking for modern rooms and bathrooms this is not for you, if you are looking for old school character you will love it. The rooms are good and the dining breakfast excellent, enjoyed the stay with the family alot.

Old hotel

Posted 10-Jun-2014
Talking to the owner you can see his vision for how he would like to develop this hotel more. It is an old Building though, so the rooms are small but comfortable. The downstairs lounge area is wonderful to sit in and play chess or pool by the open fire.

Decent

Pleasant overall experience. Staff were nice and helpful. After we feedback that first night was cold, Chris (I think ) from the hotel responded by 'upgrading' our heater. knowledgable guy, his travel experience to Singapore definitely helps us to settle down in the hotel. Food wise - the hotel breakfast was a huge spread for us. Toast, cereal, juices and your choice of hot breakfast. We had "the lot", which included eggs, 2-3 slices of bacon, a sausage, tomato AND 1 pancake, almost everyday. Good for those who likes heavy breakfast. Points to note: Floor boards were creeky but did not pose much disturbance. Toilet was clean except for a bit of stain on one towel on first day. The hotel is located mid way between town and echo point but of a comfortable walking distance.
