Well located hotel for sihhts in Katoomba

Posted 9-Jun-2015
The hotel needs a makeover as the appearance is shabby. Rooms are big, but need to be painted and a good clean. At night the hotel is very noisy, so sleeping difficult. In house dining does not cater for families wanting a meal, so we ate out.

Time in the Blue Mountains

Posted 4-May-2015
Pros: The Art Deco style
Cons: The back entrance was a bit tricky but understand the problem with the renovations.
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Blue & although the weather was really foggy & wet we still visited the Cultural Centre in Katoomba which was excellent. Friday night Jazz & dinner at Hotel Blue was great.

Great staff. Relaxing vibe. Nice escape. Try the Indian restaurant up the road. Close to town and top lookouts.

Quaint old world stay

Posted 24-Apr-2015 on Wotif
Pros: The old world charm and customer service
Cons: Lighting the fire in the Parlour Bar during the week would have been great Some of the décor could do with touching up, but this is only cosmetic
Location: The Blue Mountains are a great place for a holiday The shopping, adventure and scenery are all first class
We had a lovely stay at Hotel Blue. We received a very warm welcome from the friendly staff and found the staff friendliness and customer service to be excellent throughout our stay. There was a relaxed atmosphere and casual courtesy in all areas of the hotel which was greatly appreciated. The rooms, while small, had all the charm and services you could expect from a hotel in this price range and we certainly wanted for nothing. The included breakfasts were an added tasty bonus. The Parlour Bar and Lounge were particular favourites and we spent most evenings in front of the fire sipping cocktails over a game of cards or dominos. We'll be back

Einzigartiges Hotel in den Blue Mountains

Posted 21-Apr-2015 on Hotels

Disappointing stay

Posted 16-Apr-2015 on Wotif
Pros: Breakfast was alight, with a live band, which was quite unexpected.
Cons: General condition.
The soundproof of the hotel is very poor. The room smells and the cup in the bathroom was suspiciously unclean.

Loved our stay. Great weekend away location. Close to town and loved the chess set and big lounge. Breakfast was wonderful complete with a jazz duo!

Hotel Blue - a trip back in time.

Posted 7-Apr-2015 on Hotels
This is the second time I have stayed with Hotel Blue. It is difficult to rate an older style 1920's hotel with around 22 guest rooms when it appears to be managed by a single family. When these style of hotels are run by large companies or hotel chains ( the Hydromajestic at Medlowbath for instance ) there usually is a fair deal of financial clout to keep them in perfect condition and restore them. Consequently, I expected this to be a more 1920's experience rather than an up-market hotel. Indeed, you wont be disappointed if you approach it with that understanding. I enjoyed my stay, albeit too brief, even for the 12 nights I actually stayed there in Room 7. The rooms don't really cater for the home away from home but are more traditional hotel rooms. The floorboards will even creak when stepped upon, on the upper floors, ask yourself when you stayed anywhere where that has happened? That all adds to a genuine 1920's country feel .... The room could have been vacuumed a little more often as the carpet did get filthy from the dirt carried in on shoes (depending which of many Blue Mountains walks you may decide to go on and how heavy the rainfall might be). The hotel does supply a good breakfast but don't expect a banquet or a great variety in the menu. The hotel is conveniently located for walks to the Prince Henry Cliff Walk Track, Echo Point and in particular; Federal Pass, the Leura Cascades, and Leura Falls.

Old filthy Hotel. Price too high, the value of 200 Dollar is too high!
