“Nearest hotel to the NEC.”
We really enjoyed our stay at the Crowne Plaza. What a great way to spend a weekend - going to a concert and walking back across to your hotel to have a few drinks at the bar afterwards. Its only a five minute walk away! Perfect for couples. Food is pricey but good.

“Crowne Plaza Birmingham NEC”
Booked this hotel as we were seeing a concert at the NEC Arena and we couldn't have stayed any closer if we'd tried. Literally a five minute walk to the venue. Staff were very helpful and polite. Not cheap but I was happy to pay as the quality of accommodation and service was excellent. My only gripe was that they charged extra for parking at the hotel (£10) despite having plenty of space.
“Good but...”
Very pleasant and helpful staff, good clean rooms but the food is very expensive.
“Expensive”
Cheap room prices, but watch out for everything else. It is very comfortable however, and so convenient for the NEC. You can leave your car in the car park and walk to the exhibition halls.
“Don't use the restaurant”
The hotel is fine as a place to stay. However--- The restaurant is just terrible - the soup was inedible, the salad was stale, the steak was thin and gray. The "meal" was expensive also. Stay away and eat elsewhere.
“Give it a miss”
The TV movies didn't work. The mini-bar was broken. No decent spirits behind the grossly overpriced and poorly staffed bar. Loud fan outside my room all night. Convenient for the NEC, though.
“"Not Impressed" seems appropriate”
First, they claim they have a courtesy car, but when it comes to pick you up, it comes thru a parking lot, and you--the guest--are expected to pay the 1 PS to get out of the parking. Do they expect foreign visitors to have Sterling coins in their pocket? AND, why is the guest paying? If it is a "Courtesy Car," make it a "COURTESEY CAR!!! Why don't they pick up guests at the curb where it says "Courtesy Cars?!?!" Then, They charge outrageous prices for WiFi/internet use--wherein most good hotels, it is free--and then you have to get a password from the front desk to use it. The only other place I ever had to do that was in Russia, where their antiquity & paranoia is expected. There was a fire alarm @ 0615 in the morning--ostensibly caused by a broken water main--which put everyone in the lobby or outside in the newly fallen snow for quite some time. Then, when I got back to my room, I had water seeping in from under the closet & soaked the entire carpet. However, while one person said they would refund half my room, because I had pre-paid, they couldn't/wouldn't (?) refund any of it. Staff is marginal, at best. Not impressed & wouldn't recommend!
“Not recommended!”
I booked this hotel for a four night stay for business. The room I booked was a triple, on arrival the room we were given was very small and the third bed was a sofa that was not even made up. We were changed rooms to a room that could hold all three of us. We asked for more towels and another cup as there wasn't enough but never got them. The sheets on one of the beds had holes in it. When I then tried to use the wifi I was shocked to find that 5 days wifi was going to cost me £50 for it not to work at all, but at least they refunded that, but this was not good as it was a business trip and wifi was essential. The food in the restaurant was reasonable but very limited and very expensive with very little variety. Overall I was not impressed with this hotel in any way as I do not feel that it was value for money or up to a standard that I would expect from this type of hotel.
