“Great hotel off of I-20 at Birmingham”
I enjoyed the Continental Breakfast. No complimentary newspapers on hand, but I watched the news on TV at breakfast.
“Needs the chance for a new and positive review.”
There are 2 bad reviews for this hotel on the expedia web site which almost deterred me from making a reservation . The reviews are old, and I fortunately risked it. I am glad that I did. I needed a pleasant, clean place to sleep near the airport. The Birmingham Inn provided that. The room was clean, the decorating was modest but pleasant, the bed was very comfortable. I was very satisfied, and I would recomment the hotel to friends who need a simple but clean accomodation.
“Not impressed”
The best thing about this hotel was the location, being right off of I-20. The neighborhood in other reviews was described as bad, although I didn't think so. However it seemed I may have been wrong as the police woke me up late at night asking to search my room. The AC worked great. No microwave or fridge, no TV remote initially in the room. Toilet had a perpetual ring of filth at the waterline and lacked adequate water pressure. They should also be ashamed at labeling their breakfast offering as a "continental" breakfast. Cereal, oatmeal, OJ, milk, and a hot waffle iron with batter do not make a continental breakfast. So to me these things were acceptable for my short stay given the price. I've been to cheaper places that were nicer. However the room was much cheaper than the room I got in Birmingham last year, which may be worth it to you. I was by myself and didn't have to worry about any kids running around or a wife/girlfriend to please.
“adequate for the price”
A bit of a rough nieghbourhood. I would recommend this motel if you were on a budget and not fussy. The shuttle to the airport is a plus.
“WHAT A DUMP!”
It was awful. Fire alarm went off every night, random non customers roaming the halls, scary people in the parking lot. Great place to stay if you are looking for crack and hookers!
“Hotel pictures present a facade...please be aware”
The hotel pictures are of the lobby where it has been updated. You have to exit the hotel to gain access to your room. The rooms are old, the outside lighting access to the rooms are very dim where safety is concerning and the location of the hotel is next to a less than desirable hotel. It is not worth the asking price and I suggest the hotel charge no more than $40-50.00 per day stay. I hope this provides an indicator of how much the room is worth and gives you and idea to not pay the asking price for the room.
“Not as described”
This hotel is not in the best area, the pictures are in the lobby area which has been recently updated, there was no refrigerator in the room as discribed and suerly wasnt a sweet. For the price what do you expect though Iguess.
“The WORST hotel I have ever stayed at.”
I only stayed here because everything else was booked due to an Alabama football game in Tuscaloosa and a Talladega NASCAR race. This is the worst place I have ever stayed. Both towel racks fell off the wall because they were not installed properly. The room coffee machine was left with old coffee and grounds left in the pot. The linens were not clean. There were hairs including what looked to be pubic hairs on one of the washcloths.
“What A Dump.”
The hotel was rated four and a half starts, it was a total dump. It was in a seedy part of town, old, run down, and the only amenity they had, the pool, was closed ~ in the middle of June! I stayed 20 minutes ~ just long enough to make a reservation at another hotel and, because I'd 'checked in' was charged for the room.
