Every aspect of the hotel pleased us ,we could not find fault in any aspect.

“A solid utilitarian option in expensive Bern”

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Bern Westside because it was the only hotel we could find with an available triple room that wasn't horribly expensive. What you need to know before you reserve is that while the base price of the room is reasonable, you may be subjected to many extra fees. Extra costs include: tiered wi-fi costs (pay more for faster download speeds), breakfast (20 CHF per person) and parking (25CHF per night), amenities that are included at other Holiday Inn locations or brands (like Holiday Inn Express). For a business person on an expense account, these extra fees may not be a bother. For a leisure traveler, you might be paying 100CHF more for parking and breakfast than you planned on. McDonald's is in the mall is a lot less for breakfast. The room is utilitarian. Bedding was cosy, but beds were typically European--hard :) For a basic, budget hotel, this is a safe bet. The location off the motorway and adjacent to a major mall (Westside) are very attractive. The mall had many terrific food options and a large grocery store. Though it wasn't anything special, I would stay here again because it was clean, safe and affordable. If pampering is what you want, I suggest you look elsewhere.

“Great if you don't mind a short train ride into town”

The only thing to fault about this hotel is the fact that you have to take a train to get to the city centre. It only really has a shopping centre attached to it and only a few very casual (mall) restaurants near there. The hotel makes it easy to get to town, even selling the return tickets with no surcharge (you can charge to your room), but you will have to take the train to get to the centre. Also, if arriving by train, DO NOT take a taxi - so expensive! We made this mistake when we could have just hopped on the train, which takes you to the hotel door in two stops. Very friendly, efficient service at the hotel and the rooms are great - very new, clean, with comfortable beds. The water park looked like fun (free entry) with its 18 pools and right next door, but the slides and pools were closed for the season when we were there.

“Bon hôtel mais très excentré”

Hôtel impeccable, chambre très propre et bon service. Par contre, si vous venez en voiture, le parking est payant (environ 6 € pour la nuit). L'hôtel est juxtaposé à un centre commercial mais il faut savoir que le samedi en Suisse, les magasins ferment à 17h00 (!). Cela réduit les possibilités de shopping et le choix de restaurant à proximité est très limité ... Sinon il y a un arrêt de tram juste à côté de l'hôtel pour aller à Bern, ce qui est très pratique.

“Nice Hotel - A little off the beaten path.”

A very nice hotel, with lots of conveniences being attached to a modern shopping mall. The family loved the indoor water park that the hotel provided included tickets for. Very modern and clean. A little off the beaten path. The train from central bern to the hotel is the best way to go for sure. About a 5 min ride.

“New hotel, easy to access central Bern”

Had a very comfortable stay at this hotel. Loved the free wifi in the rooms. Don't get a taxi from the central station (about CHF40), as the public transport takes to straight to the hotel in 8 minutes.

“Not impressed”

This 1 year old hotel adjoins a new shopping mall and shares its' car park. On the Friday evening the mall area was overflowing and the police were stopping all vehicles from entering the road to the hotel. We had to explain we were guests to get to the hotel. It cost 25 Swiss francs to leave a car in the car park for 24 hours. The hotel is in an isolated area with no other easy parking. The resturants in the mall were limited and quite expensive. Free use of the adjoining swimming pool complex was a positive feature. Expensive place to stay if not on business expenses.
