Zentrales Hotel mit gutem Service

Posted 2-Aug-2015

Great Location for all attractions.

Posted 2-Aug-2015
Arrived at hotel to find that they did not have our booking. Staff member asked if we were sure it was the Radisson Blu and not the Travel Lodge we were looking for, even though we had the accepted booking which she saw!! It was sorted and hotel was very good. Facilities good, pool was good, fitness room good, room looked onto the aquarium. Breakfast was good. Yes, we would go back but would confirm booking prior to arriving!

Not more than a fish tank and a view

Posted 1-Aug-2015
Pros: Location, view, fish tank Cons: - unauthorized use of our credit card by the hotel staff for an absurdly higher amount (on top of the already reserved amount at check-in!!). As a result the limit on our credit card was reached and we couldn't make further purchases. On top of that the hotel staff claimed this was our fault, while they had made the 2nd authorization without our consent!! It was very embarrassing for us and even after the vague apology from the staff, we were not compensated in any way. - chaotic reception desk and checkin&out - rudeness of staff - extreme cold water in swimming pool (certainly not the advertised 28C) - apathetic and unwelcoming spa staff - overpriced wine in the HEat restaurant - whatever you leave on the floor of your room can be considered trash and taken away (so be careful..!) - we had to request over-and-over again for the coffee cups to be replenished - room furniture and bathroom facilities were very modest and outdated The hotel definitely doesn't deserve its 5 star rating and make us wonder how it can be part of such a great brand as Radisson Blu. When it comes to customer friendliness, the staff wouldn't get even a 1 star.

Nice hotel, good location

Posted 31-Jul-2015
Pros: Location, easy check in, concierge always available, excellent wi-fi links
Cons: if a room is requested it should be explained at check-in if the request is being fulfilled or not
Location: Perfect location for sight seeing & public transport links - Museum island, Hackesher Hof & Alexanderplatz for bars, restaurants, shops etc.
We arrived early (about 1030hrs) and were allowed to check in as there was a room available. We didn't get the high floor that we requested in the original booking but were happy with the room and view nonetheless. No extra charge incurred for the early check in We had a Business room with view of the Berlin Dome on the second floor. Room was a decent size, clean and comfortable. Aircon was a bit noisy but OK. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice of decent hotel buffet type fare. Drinks at the bar were more pricey than surrounding bars especially the wine, but a lovely setting overlooking the river & Berlin Dome ... why do hotels always charge more? The hotel is in a great location for public transport - tram, bus, rail. Public transport in Berlin is cheap and easy to use, probably the most efficient that I have ever encountered in a big city. This may explain the lack of traffic jams too, as most people use public transport, though it was nearly always possible to get a seat - unlike in the UK. Hackescher Hof (station) is about 5 mins walk away, Alexanderplatz about 8mins It is possible to walk most of the city centre attractions including most major museums, Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag Building, Checkpoint Charlie etc. Take some comfortable footwear. I would recommend this hotel though we did not use many of the facilities or restaurant (except for breakfast)

Brukar ta in på lite finare hotell för att känna att man lyxar till lite gran. Detta hotell införlivade våra förväntningar.

Frayed at the Edges

Posted 30-Jul-2015
This hotel has a great location. The hotel rooms are also huge. But it doesn't feel hotel clean (which means, cleaner than my house but not as clean as other hotels). The coffee cups were a little dirty, the toilets were a bit stained. It also looks old? The design of the rooms were super modern and the effect is to make it's aging incredibly visible. This could all not matter if the rooms were bright, but the overall effect of the hotel is a bit dark because the lights feel so artificial and sparse in the hallways and lobbies. My room faced the aquarium which exacerbated the effect, because I had a window that opened to artificial light only. They played horrifying EDM at the lobby, which made it less pleasant. Staff amazing, especially concierges.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We are extremely sorry to hear you faced issues with the cleanliness of your room and the hotel. We pride ourselves on our hight standards when it comes to this so it's disappointing to hear we didn't get it right this time. We will share your issues with our Housekeeping team who will look into why we failed on this occasion and take any necessary steps to prevent this from happening again. We assure you this isn't our usual standard and if we're fortunate enough to have you stay with us again, you'll see for yourself. With best regards, The Radisson Blu Team

Berlin doesn't really have a city center, it's a lot of districts which all have their own identity, many people confuse "Mitte" as the center, there is certainly plenty to do and see within walking distance of this hotel and much more just a short tram, tube or bus ride away. You'll pay 25-40% more for everything if you stay close to the hotel, take the time to visit the real Berlin and see how the locals live you'll learn so much more and it will cost you less in the process.
