“Excellent value for money”

City Lights is a well-maintained hotel in a rather unexciting part of Berlin (as far as we could tell). As a family of four, we stayed comfortably in the family room with a double bed and a bunkbed. Nothing fancy but all we needed (the tv wasn't working properly but we didn't care and not even bothered to ask reception to get it fixed). The room and hotel in general were very clean. We enjoyed the breakfast buffer which had everything we needed. From the hotel, it is a short (300m) walk to the U- and S-Bahn station (Gesundbrunnen), it takes just a few minutes to get to Alexanderplatz and/or Hauptbahnhof. This is all very convenient. The hotel is relatively close to Tegel airport (to close next year) but we didn't hear much noise; there is a recycling site next to the hotel which gives a bit of noise, but nothing that bothered us much. From Schonefeld (and/or the new Brandenburg) airport it is quite a distance (50 Euro by Taxi). We should have taken the train/S-bahn to Alexanderplatz. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel; especially if you are travelling as a family. The hotel was cheap and had everything we needed.

“Excellent basic hotel”

Citylight hotel is a bit of a challenge to find from Schonefeld airport, but worth the effort! The staff are friendly and very helpful. Most of them speak English as well as German and other languages. They can sell you tickets for public transport and give advice on what to see. The room was a family room with double and 2 bunks, had ensuite shower and toilet, and was clean and perfect for our needs. The buffet breakfast was very good and plentiful - eat as much as you like style. There was parking at the hotel as well, and you could leave your luggage there before check-in. There's no air conditioning as it's a basic hotel, but the windows opened and that was all we needed. For anyone wanting a basic, reasonably-priced 2 star hotel in Berlin, this comes highly recommended by us.

“Clean - Great Location - Reasonable Price”

Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay close to the sights in Berlin without spending a fortune. Hotel is like a hostel - many young people there. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. U and S Bahn station is 3-5 minute walk away. Hotel sells U and S Bahn tickets. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was good. Great stay!!

“Very impressed”

For a budget hotel this was extremely impressive. Very near to public transport links, the hotel was clean and the room large. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and the complimentary buffet breakfast was excellent. I would certainly use this hotel to others and would be happy to use it again.

The hotel is very well located due to its access to the Ubahn (Subway) The rooms are spotless and very comfortable. One gets the feeling of staying at a ski lodge with the exception of mountains and perhaps a fire place. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. Older travelers should be aware that most of the clientel is very young but well behaved and quiet. I mention this so that one will not annoy other guests with the phrase "when I was your age...) Just kidding, the place is perfect for a visit to Berlin.

“Friendly, Comfortable, and Reasonably Priced Stay in Berlin”

Citylight Hotel was a very good one-night stay for our family. The Family room boasted 2 bedrooms with a hall and shared bath between them, definitely enough space for 4 adults. The breakfast buffet was excellent too. We just needed a comfortable place to stay, near downtown and an easy drive to the airport. No fancy TV's or anything...Citylight was perfect for us.

“Good family hotel”

The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. We needed a room for 4 which can be difficult to get in Berlin. Very good quality for the price. Only drawback is that the hotel is not in the center of berlin, but the tube is just one block away and it will bring you to the center in no time.
