“Typical Hostel/Hotel”

Typical Hotel/Hostel. I had a 2-bed room which was comfortable. Walls are thin, so if you are a light sleeper, you will wake up often. Breakfast was decent, and the staff were very helpful. Location was a little sketchy looking, but felt safe, even at night. Internet was cheap, 8 Euros for 5 days.

“Good budget stay”

Stayed for 3 nights in a twin room in June 2007. Handy budget hotel a few minutes walk from the East station (Ostbahnhof). Rooms are small, but clean, modern and fine for somewhere to crash. Would be a bit cramped if staying more than 3 days though. Staff are friendly and speak excellent English. Not much to do in the area around the hotel though is only downside.

“A little walking saves a lot of money”

This hotel is about equidistant from Heinrich Heine Unterbahn and the Ostbahnhof S-Bahn stations, about 1/4 to 1/3 mile. After an active day of walking in Berlin, the small amount of noise mentioned in other reviews from partiers is not enough to keep you awake. The bathroom is very small, but clean and everything worked. No A/C on a hot day can be a challenge for us Americans, but the German windows are neat and they work just fine. The breakfast is simple but generous, with salad, yogurt, lunchmeat and cheese, and several types of breads, as well as apple juice and orange juice and coffee. East Berlin has now recovered enough that it looks as good as or better than many sections of American cities, and I felt safer. One elevator is inconvenient when you have an 8th floor room like we did, but we're healthy, and the 50% of times it looked like a wait, we just took the stairs. I would definitely consider returning to this hotel.
