Great location, but loud disco music until 3am

Posted 22-Jul-2014
This hotel is located above a pub and a very loud disco. We were on the first floor and the techno music from the club woke us up at midnight on Saturday, it was so loud that one could literally feel the bass rocking the room. On Sunday night it was karaoke, and while it wasn't so disruptive, it was still loud enough to wake me occasionally. That being said, the location is perfect, walking distance from the Bryggen old town, fish market, university, main bus station, etc. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was fine although the water for the showers didn't stay hot for long. The inclusive breakfast is a sandwich w/ fruit and juice, not fancy but decent. The hotel also has free wi-fi which worked fine, and the TV had a couple of English channels. I'm summary, the price and location were great, but I don't need to hear the bass drop at midnight during my vacation.

Cheap but with a price

Posted 21-Jul-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Outside noise.
While the staff was nice and the room was adequate, this hotel, like many of the hotels in this part of Bergen, was really loud. If you like bad, loud contemporary European dance music, this place is for you. In July, our room was fairly warm without air conditioning but we could not open the windows to cool down due to the outside noise. On the upside, the staff was accommodating and the location excellent. But with the price comes the noise tradeoff.

Nice hotel in the city center

Posted 12-Jul-2014
Pros: Sandwich breakfast delivered to my room.
Cons: More willingness to accept the lugguage into the storage room even if not asked, instead of leaving the lugguage in the front desk area.
Location: The fish market is within easy 10 minutes' slow walk where you can find any good local restaurants of your choice.
I was not sure about the distances to major tourist attractions such as cablecar, Bryggen, Old Tower/Castle and Railway station. However, all of these were within 15 minutes' walk at most.

Nice hotel, great for a family

Posted 12-Jul-2014
Room was great for a family, with 2 separate sections. Breakfast was a bit plain, with just prepackaged sandwiches, a piece of fruit and a drink

Disappointing

Posted 4-Jun-2014
Pros: City centre location
Cons: Cleanliness. Try to avoid using rooms near workmen unless fully booked
Location: Sightseeing of the Brygge and the Floybannen very convenient. Could walk to Light railway stop.
Hotel undergoing renovation. Awoken by men on scaffolding outside my window! Only hanging space for clothes, no shelves. Corridors looked shabby and had not been vacuumed for a considerable time. Breakfast brought to room in bag: only an apple and packet of sandwiches. No drink. Very noisy: singing from bar late into the evening and again at 2.30am

Overprices and noisy

Posted 28-May-2014
This hotel is well over priced aspecially of you stay on a week end. The place is noisy as there is a cafe underneath, which if I had known when booking I would not have booked the hotel.

Comfortable hotel in city centre.

Posted 25-May-2014
Pros: Free tea and coffee, wifi, cleanliness and comfort, quietness despite city centre location.
Cons: The boring breakfast package.
Location: City centre. Numerous attractions within easy reach. Short walk to airport bus stop.
P-Hotel Bergen is ideally situated within a few minutes easy walk of many attractions - the shopping centre, the tourist office, harbour, Bryggen historic district, St John's church, the Maritime Museum, the bus and rail stations and much more. The fifth floor hotel room was immaculately clean, with a superb bathroom and shower, and a wonderful view towards the mountains. Wifi worked fine. There was free coffee (with real milk in a jug) and tea available 24 hours a day in the entrance lobby. This was more valuable than you might think in a city where coffee is $6.00 a cup at coffee shops. You could easily walk back to the hotel anytime you fancied a drink. The only disappointment was the breakfast delivered in a paper bag to the door very early each morning. It consisted of a sandwich pack, an apple and a bottle of apple juice. After several days of such unchanging fare, you think a little imagination would work wonders, even for a budget hotel.
