“Wonderful experience”

The staff could not have been nicer! We had a wonderful stay with our 3 older children. Hotel was beautiful and very relaxing. Definately would recommend to others!

“The Fairytale”

Matachica is amazing! We were there for our honeymoon last week. There communication before our arrival to the time we returned to Belize City was a different place in time. Their friendliness, attention to every detail created a seamless and timeless experience. They picked us up by boat, met us with drinks, took care of our luggage and did not want tips. When you try t shop online, so many of the places you see are showing you there two or three best shots of the property. Matachica has nothing but "best shots". You cannot find a view that does not command your attention -- from any hut, any chair, the trees, flowers beaches, sunsets, sunrises, are stunning. The people know your name and have smiles that make coffee the second best part of starting you day. Kayak to the reef -- it is right there just offshore; snorkel along the reef and see more exotic fish and plant life than you can name. Kayak back, they will take care of the gear, give you a towel and walk 15 feet to the hot tub, order a drink and watch the sun go down. From the dock of Matachica, you are just a water taxi away from experiencing any part of Belize you desire, jungles, fishing, scuba, shopping, it is all available. Even at its peak this place is never crowded and you are never a number. Go and enjoy! Tell them Mr Willaim and Ms Melinda said Hi!

“Fantastic resort!”

The resort is geared more toward couples and is a perfect getaway from all the "hustle and bustle" of work! The bungalows have no TVs to distract two people who want to get back in touch with each other. Although I stayed at the resort alone, I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable by all the staff there. If you decide to stay at this fabulous resort, it is an absolute MUST to have one of the treatments in the spa. Miss Silvia is a top notch massuse and knows her craft very well. Mambo's restraunt is superb! The food there is unbelieveably delicious and the presentation is outstanding! While dining at Mambos, ask for Miss Isadora, her smile absolutely lights up the room and she is a very gracious and attentative hostess.

“We want to go back!”

A great place for an escape. Very friendly, accommodating staff, beautiful decor, private casitas and cabanas, great food and beautiful setting. Also, has a great neighboring restaurant for those who like a second choice if staying many nights. Has a nice dock setup for swimming, sunning, and relaxing to avoid the seagrass (since the shallow waters off the beach have lots of sea grass). Many activities are complimentary: snorkeling, kayaking, biking, frisbee, and the friendly staff will help set up other, off-site activities. Highly recommend!

What a fantastic place! Perfect combination of relaxing, fun, pretty, nice accommodations and great food. You can do as much or as little as you want and they will help you enjoy whatever that is! Beautiful beach and property, great rooms, great people.

“Amazing location, unique lodging, and great staff”

Just stayed at Matachica for a 6 night trip and the actual hotel is FRIGGIN AMAZING! From the beautiful dock with plenty of swings/hammock/lounge chairs to the unique bungalow rooms, Matachica was such a pretty and relaxed resort to stay in. Bungalows are comfy, and they make ur bed whenever they know you are out and about, this happens at least 2 times a day. This helps since we had to shower alot due to the ocean/heat/sweat/gallons of SPF. We had a bungalow that was not ocean front, so its a bit hotter but the fan and AC was cool enough even during the day. With the private beach front, the hotel has plenty of places to sit and relax right in front of the ocean, where you can catch the strong ocean breeze and feel comfortable in the 90+ degree weather. The hotel also has its own kayaks, sail boats, paddle boats and snorkel gear for you to sail off and enjoy the clear, turquoise ocean and nearby reefs. The staff was very friendly and will accommodate anything you ask for. They also will arrange any activities you want to experience and handle everything for you. The only draw back is the restaurant is very pricey. Tasty, but pricey.

Unique place to stay. Everyone was extremely kind, pleasant and helpful with anything you needed at this resort. Delicious meals & awesome drinks!

“REMINDED ME OF THE "FOUR SEASONS", BELEZIAN STYLE, EXCELLENT!!!”

WE WERE AT THE PROPERTY 10/11-10/16 SOME HELPFULL HINTS WE LEARNED, THE RESORT WILL PICK U UP BY PRIVATE WATER TAXI IN SAN PEDRO, JUST LET THEM KNOW. ALSO I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO TAKE THE SHORT COMMUTER FLIGHT FROM BELIZE CITY TO SAN PEDRO, OTHER WISE, LIKE WE LEARNED THE HARD WAY, YOU HAVE TO TAKE A TAXI FROM THE AIRPORT IN BELIZE CITY, TO THE WATER TAXI AREA ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN, THEN WAIT FOR A WATER TAXI, (IT MAKES MULTIPLE STOPS BEFOR U GET TO THE RESORT.) TOOK US 4 HRS!!!! I WOULD ALSO RECOMMEND U ASK FOR THE NEWLY RENNOVATED CASITAS, THEY ARE WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL LINES, GREAT BATHROOMS, JUST WONDERFUL. THE STAFF IS EXCELLENT, FOOD FANTASTIC, AND WATER TAXI AND HOTEL TAXI AT END OF THEIR DOCK. WE FOUND MOSTLY YOUNG HONEYMOONERS AT THE RESORT, ITS QUIET, NICE POOL, PERFECT PLACE IS YOU WANT TO SIT BY POOL, OR WATER, READ A BOOK AND RELAX. U CAN ALWAYS GO INTO SAN PEDRO, 5 MILES AWAY, AND 15 MIN BY WATER TAXI, IF U WANT TO SEE A SMALL TOWN WITH TINY SHOPS AND MODE OF TRANSPORTATION IS GOLF CARTS, READILY AVAILABLE 2 RENT. U CAN DO THIS AHEAD, ON LINE. THE ONE THING THAT MAKES BELIZE UNIQUE, IS THEY SPEAK ENGLISH AND ARE GENUINELY VERY VERY HAPPY AND LOVELY PEOPLE THAT WILL HELP YOU WITH ANYTHING, AND WANT U TO HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME. ASK ALEX, WHO WORKS IN THE KITCHEN, 2 TEACH U HOW TO "FISH" OFF THE DOCK, USING HIS INCREDIBLE "FISHING POLE" MADE FROM A SODA BOTTLE!!! YOU WILL LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!

“An incredible experience and perfect honeymoon.”

Beautiful location and impeccable rooms. The attentive staff aims to please and remembered our names after the first day. Most of the gear: snorkels, kayaks, bikes, etc. was complementary and ready to use whenever we wanted. The perfect place to unplug and get away from it all. No TV or phones in the rooms, just comfortable furniture in an incredible atmosphere. Our only complaint, if one could even call it that, was that the bar didn't open until 11 am and the cocktails were on the expensive side ($10 us on average). Everything else was simply perfect.
