We (family of 4 adults) did the all-inclusive Colonial Club package - I would highly recommend the small fee for the upgrade package, including several swim-up bars; Bali Beds; a private butler, who serves you champagne upon check-in and takes care of you all week;and access to the Colonial Club room where they have all sorts of tasty treats and beverages 24x7. We loved the buffet for any/all meals. The restaurants were good too, but you had to wait longer and you were limited to just the menu items, whereas the buffet was all you can eat and there is a very large variety of GREAT foods on the buffet. The one food item that was just so-so was the steak at the steakhouse, not the greatest - thin and overcooked for medium rare. The beach BBQ was excellent - the chicken was outstanding!! We had a lot of fun at the SportsBar watching the Stanley Cup Finals and the NBA Finals. The casino was OK, but I'm not a gambler so not my cup of tea. The beach was very clean and not overcrowded; they had a security person posted at the beach at all times, probably assuring no "strangers" wander in and bother the patrons. Oh and the nightly shows were fun too. Overall - simply awesome!
A very luxurious hotel resort. The staff was absolutely wonderful. The rooms were definitely 5 star and the food was great! We loved the exquisite Spanish decor meticulously decorated throughout the entire resort. However, we were bored by the third day. The nightlife is very minimal. The shows were extremely cheesy. Once you have seen one show, you've seen them all. We had more fun with the staff and taking a taxi to the Hard Rock Resort and Casino at night. Don't do THE CLUB (Timeshare) Presentation. Wise people don't make major financial decisions in 90 mins. The Presentation took away from our entire experience. We will visit the resort again but will not stay more than three days. If you like great scenery, relaxing at the beach, good food and exceptional service at a hefty price, then I recommend this resort.

The hotel facilities are very big. There was a lack of transportation within the facilities specially if the hotel is fully booked. The Hard Rock Hotel Reward is a gimmick you end of paying the value of the item. The points are only worth it in the Spa.There was no entertainment at all in the day time for those that do not like pool or beach. Lack of latin music and good shows. The theater had a hot temperature. Unless you go for pool or beach I prefer a good cruise in the Caribbean.
On the eastern side of the Dominican Republic, the town of Bavaro was originally settled by those working in the nearby resorts on the beach. The town quickly became a center of services and also boasts 10 miles of seashore. Hundreds of hotels, as well as shopping centers, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and medical services, can be found here.
