“Super convenient, steps to The Rambla”
Stayed 4 nights at Hotel Moderno. Basic hotel, good breakfast buffet, clean rooms. A bit noisy outside, but most rooms are in Spain. I always travel with ear plugs. Front desk is very friendly and helpful. Free internet access and 3 computer terminals available to guests. Super convenient tourist location. Just steps from The Rambla and within walking distance to major attractions and restaurants. Great atmosphere and just around the corner from the Market and the Opera House. A few blocks from Pl. Catalunya which is the hub for tourist buses and the aerobus to the airport. Would definitely stay there again.
“Well located, Cute Hotel”
I wanted to stay near Las Ramblas and the Gothic Neighborhood. I lucked out with this choice. It is no more that 20 steps from the main street in Las Ramblas and actually has a full size road in front of it (so taxis can drive right to it and you can walk to it without getting lost). Tourist who stayed in other hotels without a road in front were left on the main avenue from which they had to walk to their hotel--if they could find it. I saw a number of tourist with there rolling luggage trying to find there hotels. Not pretty. I did not have that problem. Front desk was amazing. Very nice. Free breakfast was ok. The only minus was the thin walls. I did not mind hearing the busy Ramblas streets--that's what I wanted to hear. It was hearing the other guests. I actually heard one man run into his room and go to the bathroom. I don't think he realized that everyone heard. Or he did not care. Also, the hotel is very close to the port. It is a ten minute walk to the blue bus that takes you to the cruise ships. The same area is where you can get the fabulous tour buses that take you to the highlights of Barcelona. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. That is the biggest plus of this cute little hotel.
“Nous retournerons avec plaisir dans cet hôtel.”
Très bon accueil. Hôtel très bien situé à 30métres de la Rambla et de la station de métro, proche de la place "Catalunya", du marché à ne pas manquer, et de nombreux sites à visiter comme le "palais Güell". Hôtel à recommander. Si nous retournons à Barcelone, nous choisirons cet hôtel en priorité. C'est notre deuxième expérience avec "Expedia", et deux fois très satisfaits.
“Hotel Moderno”
Reasonable price, nice boss, clean rooms, very good breakfast buffet! The rooms are small, but as a traveler, what we need is just a bed to sleep.
“Good location, ok rooms”
Hotel is in a brilliant central location off La Ramblas. The hotel was fairly basic, but clean with large hotel rooms, and fairly new bathrooms. If you are the type who are out all day and only need the room to sleep and wash then the hotel is more than adequate. The breakfast was good and was avaliable until 10.30am, although some items aren't restocked so it is best to go earlier. In our particular room we didn't have any street noise which was excellent, although the internal noise of people moving around, slamming doors, talking loudly started to annoy us slightly by the end of our 3 night stay. The reception staff were very helpful with suggesting restaurants or things to do and spoke very good English. I would suggest this hotel based on value for money and location and the condition and standard of the room reflects the 3 star status.
“Moderno, Barcelona”
The hotels location, service and safety are so good. The receptionists all are very helpful and professional.
“Excellente situation”
Hôtel très bien situé en plein coeur du centre historique et à deux pas d'une bouche de métro. Le personnel est très chaleureux et de bon conseil. Avec un petit plus pour le petit déjeuner au top!
“'Thoughtful' hotel”
Hotel Moderno impressed with a warm welcome by reception staff who also willingly provided valuable and correct information for seeing Barcelona. In addition the toiletries provided were the best anywhere and there were little slippers! The location was great, just off Las Ramblas and, with the aid of lifts, it was possible to catch the Metro to Barcelona Sants. Excellent value all round.
“Great location, friendly staff but”
Great location & staff very friendly and helpful. Generous breakfast, all inclusive. Free Wifi would have been great had it been working, it was on and off (off more than on). Lift kept on breaking down. Hair scattered all over bathroom floor though it looked as if it has been cleaned. The size of the bathroom was larger in the single room than a triple room. Walls were thin and quite noisy if the room was near the staircase or corridor - many travellers leave the hotel early - 4am!
“Good deal off Las Rambla.”
Great location, but since it was SO close to Las Rambla and our room was right off the street the noise was a bit much at night. Sound proof windows would have been great. Otherwise, the breakfast selection was nice, the staff was very nice and we really enjoyed the neighborhood. A good deal overall.

Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Spain: Barcelona's Old Town, the Ciutat Vella takes in the Barri Gòtic and the world-famous promenade of Las Ramblas. The former is the city's medieval core, a maze of atmospheric alleyways clustered around the splendid Gothic Cathedral. Quirky specialist shops and characterful bars and eateries abound. Don't miss the Museu Picasso and the Museu d'Història de la Ciutat, as much for their palatial settings as their content.
