“A warm and comfortable stay”
Upon arrival the Reception staff were very attentive and our experience throughout our stay remained the same. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to a friend. A most enjoyable and comfortable stay.
“Would definitely recommend”
The Hotel Espana is in an excellent location, close to La Rambla but on a side street so sleep not disturbed by noise. Its within walking distance of all the sights, close to shops and the Metro. It is beautifully decorated with a great mix of old architecture and modern comforts and style. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were beautifully clean, bed was comfortable and bathrooms very stylish indeed (the light staying on in the toilet cubicle an excellent idea - no tripping over in the night!!) Wouls definitely recommend this hotel if you're planning a trip to Barcelona.
“Barcelona best Decorated Hotel”
The Hotel was in an exelent location, and the decoration is espectacular. For this price I am sure that I couldn´t get any better choice. I love the city of barcelona and this hotel is definitly in the hear of the city. The service is very good the rooms are beautufull, I loved the decoration of this modern Hotel.
“Very nice”
Right in the heart of the old city, and the recent remodel is a wonderful blending of contemporary design with the original glory of the building. The dining room in particular is breathtaking, and worth a visit even if you don't stay. Our room (first floor, front) was very nice, and a clogged shower drain was corrected immediately. The basic continental buffet struck us as a bit steep at 20 euros a person, but then you do get to eat it in that dining room. One thing to be aware of is the noise level from outside. Crowds of boisterous folks pass by all night, and the sound really carries, so if you plan on sleeping, ask for an interior room or bring earplugs. I'm sure this is true of any hotel in the area.
“Top Quality Hotel”
A stunning hotel right in the heart of Barcelona, going to Barcelona again wouldn't be the same if we didnt stay here. Amazing mix of old and new decor, great service, friendly staff, great location. Noisy at times outside hotel, but staff were quick to move on the 'cerveza sellers'. The hotel is so nice, people stopped to look in the windows and even take pictures. Could not have been more impressed, and will certainly return.
“Impressed”
!00 mtr form Rambla and all bars and restaurants. The hotel has a nice bar and good restaurant if you dont like to scroll the city. Nice and clean no noice, all new inside.
“/-\/”
Old building was very noisy, at least at the first floor. A heared every step above. Also at check-out there were an attempt to add extra charge for a phone call I’ve never made.
“Looks nice but awful customer service”
The hotel looks good having been recently refurbished. However the customer service of the staff really let Hotel Espana down. The rooms are poorly noise insulated. The local businesses take delivery in the early hours of the morning and this can be heard throughout the rooms. The rooms include a free mini bar with water and juice, but was never re-stocked after the first night. Having complained about the noise we were told there was nothing they could do. It took a further two calls and a visit to reception and the request of the hotel manager for the staff to finally move us to a quieter part of the hotel on our last night. After which we were virtually ignored by the staff and made to feel unwelcome. After checking out there was no thank you for staying or goodbye from the staff. Certainly not what I expect from a so called four star hotel.

Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Spain: Barcelona's Old Town, the Ciutat Vella takes in the Barri Gòtic and the world-famous promenade of Las Ramblas. The former is the city's medieval core, a maze of atmospheric alleyways clustered around the splendid Gothic Cathedral. Quirky specialist shops and characterful bars and eateries abound. Don't miss the Museu Picasso and the Museu d'Història de la Ciutat, as much for their palatial settings as their content.
