“Simple and perfect”
Fantastic location, great staff, simple accommodations that have everything you need for a great visit to Barcelona.
“Good value 1 star”
Hotel Cal was everything you could ask for in a 1 star hotel. Reasonable size room for one - might be a bit of a squash for two. Double bed, hot water, air conditioning. No TV - but who goes to Barcelona to watch TV? Mor importantly no plug for the washbasin - remember to take your own. Just off La Rambla in the old town. Cafe just round the corner for breakfast.
“great budget hotel”
It is located write in the heart of the Gothic Quarter and close to La Rambla and a ten minute walk to the seafront. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and basic but with only one shuttered window that looked into the lift shaft! No noise from outside which has alleyways. No breakfast but a number of excellent cafes round a couple of corners. Ideal to use as a place to sleep/rest/refresh between trips to museums, shops, restaurants and nightlife in the neighbourhood. Handy little safe and satisfactory on suite shower/toilet. Very basic but good value.
“Hotel Call - Centrally located, and provides the necessities.”
Okay, so if you are truly going to Barcelona to experience Barcelona as the locals do, then this is the hotel for you. While I was there, they were painting and doing general upkeep to the rooms and hallways. The place is clean, and inexpensive for the location. The room provides a place to land after walking and experiencing Barcelona, and a place to shower. With that said, if you are looking for a place to hang out in a room while in Barcelona, then this is not the place for you. This is NOT the Las Vegas Belagio, not a Westin, or not even a Best Western. Again, the Hotel Call is in a great location to experience Barcelona...and to experience Barcelona is not to stay in a hotel room. As a female, my one complaint was that there was only one outlet. The outlet was located by the bed. Made using my flat iron difficult when the only mirror is in the bathroom!
“Barcelona central”
Basic but clean. Good central loation
“Cheap and cheerful”
I only used hotel as place to sleep during the Spanish Grand Prix and as a base it was perfect. Though the exterior would easily put people off and the accommodation is a lower standard (no window in the room, but nothing to look at outside) than budget hotels the price and friendliness of the staff more than offset this initial view. I would happily use if visiting Barcelona again.
“At night the neighborhood can be dangerous...”
At night the neighborhood can be dangerous. Stay there only if you are a group of teenagers that want just a place to sleep in Barcelona.
“in the covers of the pillows”
When me and my wife enter in the room for the first time, I notice that the covers of the pillows were dirt and with hair . I asked the staff and they only let in the room another two covers to the pillows- I have to change the covers ! The negative aspect of the hotel is the cleanliness - but the localization is very good. There are no windows possible in the rooms - they all open to a small center of another windows . One of the rooms open the window to the tunel of elevator ! The staff was simpathetic - but don't ask for more than the coloquial questions. I rfecommend this hotel to a friend because of the localization - but I will advise my friend about the cleanliness.
“Great price for a modest place, Excellent location”
This is modest hotel at very reasonable prices for the historic centre of a major European city. Some rooms have no window, but all are clean with lots of clean linens and towels, and with private baths.

Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Spain: Barcelona's Old Town, the Ciutat Vella takes in the Barri Gòtic and the world-famous promenade of Las Ramblas. The former is the city's medieval core, a maze of atmospheric alleyways clustered around the splendid Gothic Cathedral. Quirky specialist shops and characterful bars and eateries abound. Don't miss the Museu Picasso and the Museu d'Història de la Ciutat, as much for their palatial settings as their content.
