“Great hotel. Nice staff.”
We just got back from a lovely stay at this hotel. Staff and hotel were both lovely. We were made to feel very welcome. Only bad side was the pool was closed for most of our stay even though it was hot.
“Great hotel in a great location!”
I have stayed in Hotel Axel previously and will definitely be making a return trip. The staff on the front desk are both friendly and helpful, which I particularly liked about the hotel. I find it reassuring to have someone with a knowledge of the area to offer advice on places to visit and things to do. Be sure to spend some time on the rooftop sundeck and by the swimming pool. After all the walking around Barcelona, it is a great place to unwind, meet fellow travellers and soak up the sun!

upon arrival i was greeted by the gorgeous receptionists at the front desk and that already gave me a good impression. they were so helpful and very nice. the hotel seems to need a bit more maintainence but i have to say my stay was very satisfying. spa, solarium and the gym on the roof was my nightly activity and they were such nice amenities they just could not get any better! location of hotel was good also. definitely recommend this hotel!

I was very impressed with the Hotel. The stuff all very freindly and elpeful and they spoke Inglish. the roms very cleam and spaciose. and it was closed to al turiste sites 10 minuts walk to de rumblas.I can't wait to go back .

“a great place”
for the gay traveller this is the perfect hotel. i think it is probably quite expensive but i got a good deal by booking late with expedia and wasn't there at a weekend. for the extra few quid over budget that i spent it was worth it. the rooms are fairly basic and not that big, but the beds are comfy. the atmosphere around the hotel is relaxed and more than a little cruisey - especially in the gym/sauna area next to the roof terrace. i expected it to be an old crowd because of the price, but there were some hot 20 and 30 somethings among the guests, locals and staff in the hotel!

We spent a 6 nights at the Axel and were very pleased with our experience. The hotel is clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. We would stay here again when we return to Barcelona.

Great location. Right on the beach. Service is 4 stars. Close to the best clubs in San Juan.
