“This is my first choice when staying in Banff.”
Mount Royal continues to be my first choice when staying in the Banff area. It is located right on the main street and central to many restaurants and shops. The people at the reception desk are always pleasant and courteous and only too willing to answer any questions you might have. The most important of all...the rooms are always spotless and the beds are super comfortable. Personally I couldn't recommend this hotel enough. The only downside I could point out and it's not an issue for me is that I find when booking thru expedia they always put me at the opposite end of the hotel furthest away from the elevators. The hotel is probably a city block or more in length and for the older traveller after a long day on the road, carrying their luggage for a block and a half might be a bit of a challenge. For me, I love the location, I know my room is clean and I'll have a good night sleep and I'm a happy traveller.
“Would go again... for the right price”
There are 2 concerns with this hotel...1st. the bathrooms are extremely outdated and need to be renovated. 2nd. the free parking they offer is the 2hr public parking behind the hotel and if it's full well tough cookies for you.
“Would definitely stay here again.”
Very clean and comfortable room in a great location. Just parked the car and walked everywhere. Several great restaurants and much shopping all within walking distance.
“NO handicap parking”
Everything was o'k ,is little bit older hotel and needs upgrating, but is nice and quiet . One think ,which realty badder me is parking. NO HANDICAP PARKING...not even one. I saw two empty parking spots. ,with rope and sign....NO PARKING
“Banff at it's Best!”
A Brewster family Hotel, right in the middle of Banff, marries old style hotel with full modern amenities. Great Value, superb Staff. This is my place for all future Banff stays.
“Good value for a historic hotel”
We enjoy historic and boutique hotels because of the character, architecture and usually because of the great locations. Mount Royal did not disappoint. Our standard queen room was spacious enough and was furnished with appropriately looking, yet comfortable, period furniture. Our room on the third floor had a bay window (not many of them) and overlooked Banff Avenue. Rooms on the backside would look over the town towards Tunnel Mountain, but some may just look into a back lane court yard. We went mid week during the shoulder season when the summer tourist throngs were back at work and ski season has yet to start; the hotel and street life late at night was very quiet.
“Weak Wifi access to some rooms”
Great location. Clean room. Coin washer/dryer was helpful. We stayed at 272 (;far end of the left wing, windows facing parking lot) where wifi signal was very weak. Other than that, I strongly recommend this place.
“Good location”
Was noisy because of ice maker machine out side of room.
“Excellent location”
Excellent location in the heart of downtown Banff. Close to just about everything Banff has to offer. Character building, smallish rooms but that was fine. Had a back facing room so didn't notice any real outside noise. Would easily stay there again.
“Not so impressed”
The location is good. The hotel might be a little too old.
