"Beautiful location with views."
We have stayed at the Douglas Fir Hotel a few times and always enjoy the experience. The log burning fireplace is a bonus and the kitchen is useful for preparing meals. It is a nice place to come and stay.

"Mom and daughters get away."
Just went for a mom and daughters weekend and had a really nice time. We didn't get a chance to try Habitat but the menu looked fantastic, but not geared toward 6 and 7 year olds. The rooms were very relaxing and the beds were very comforable, not too soft, and I need to find out if I can purchase thier pillows!

Was able to check in early and get changed for my meeting. Hotel flexibility much appreciated. They also offered late checkout but I did not need that, as it turned out. All staff was friendly and offered to help.

"Historic... majestic... ghosts? ......"
Enjoyed staying at this hotel.. this hotel is probably the oldest hotel around Banff. Built and opened in June 1888, you will notice as you enter the hotel the woods, the décor.. doors are all from the 1800's.. although newly redecorated over the years , you can still feel the ambience and the history of this beautiful hotel.. And yes ..ghosts are said to roam around the hotel ! I would like to add the valet service . for a mere 35.00 for your stay.. no need to worry about parking your car and having your car returned. Fantastic service! take note.. no tipping the valet service and drivers. ( not allowed)... this hotel is not for people on a budget.. food is expensive and so is your stay. However the hotel offers many amenities right at the hotel., golf, . tennis.. swimming...( in and out door pools) ..not to mention the Spa/Wellness . take a hike around the hotel.. or just relax.. Its worth the stay!!

"Best view in Lake Louise Canada"
Wonderful setting. Only complaint we were delayed due to a heavy snowfall. When we went down for dinner the main grill closed at 8pm -we were there at 7.55 and the upstairs only served tapas! Was not happy! Thank goodness the pub was still open! Not what you expect from a 5 star.

"Awesome view, nice hotel"
We stayed in Canmore but spent the majority of our trip in Banff, which is just a 30 minute drive, this was a good location for what we wanted, as the hotel here was much cheaper than those in Banff. IF you are willing to spend the extra $30-50 per night, I'd recommend staying right in Banff though.

Or, for something a little more slower-paced, a good hike through the easier trails like Parker Ridge Trail and Spray River Loop should do just fine for the little ones.
