“Reliably Great, Clean & Kid Friendly”
We have stayed at the Douglas Fir for years. The indoor playground, a separate bedroom, a full kitchen, a fire place and a surprisingly comfortable Murphy Bed in addition to very reasonable prices make this hotel the perfect destination with kids.
“Favorite Banff Getaway”
Great hotel for families with the full kitchen set up & waterslides. Always been our favorite with our family. Now that they are grown up we go back for the peace & tranquility of the wood burning fireplace, super comfy bed & suite amenities. If you have your own vehicle don't hesitate to stay, it is only a 5 minute drive to downtown for all the shopping and restaurants.
“Cute getaway in the woods!!!!”
Was very surprised with the amount of amenities available. Would be a great location for those who take skications.
“Awesome Family Hotel”
Great place for kids, especially if you don't want or need to be in downtown Banff.
“Not Impressed, very Out-dated.”
Needs an updated look and updated furniture - our couch was ripped and the walls have wood panels. Great location in the mountains though.
“Decent hotel outside of downtown”
The best thing about things about this hotel were the fireplace in the room, and that it was outside of downtown in a forested area. They were doing renovations so the large pool, water slides and the outdoor hot tub weren't accessible. The beds were ugly and uncomfortable...but the view was great.
“It was all good!”
It was all good!
“My favorite place in Banff”
This is a great hotel for the price. The most basic accommodation provides a full kitchenette, living space, woodburning fireplace, free firewood, balcony or patio, and underground parking. The towels are big and thick and I always consider that a key point. I've paid more to stay at other places that didn't have all of these amenities. It's not in the centre of town, but it's just a two minute drive up Tunnel Mountain and well worth it.
“Out of the way but beautiful view”
The rooms were great in the 1 bedroom loft, a lot of space and the view was beautiful. Getting to and from the waterslides, pool and lobby was a bit confusing as you had to go out through the parkade and down stairs around corners etc. There is no restaurant in the hotel but nearby ones in two other hotels were not that inexpensive. It is a great place to go hiking and to have peace and quiet unless you are in the rooms then the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything. For the price and beauty I would reccomend it.
“good experience”
Kids have fun for sure.
