Banff

The hotel was nice enough but should not have been rated a four star. Was more on par with the various 3 star hotels on the area, not worth the additional cost.

Nice and spacious rooms, a bit far from downtown

Posted 8-Apr-2014
Cons: The A/C blows right on the beds! I had to put a chair with a coat on its back to block the breeze...
Very nice, but just a touch too expensive to make it feel worthwhile. For instance...free internet, but then they charge for parking!

Fantastic hotel for families

Posted 7-Apr-2014
We had a fantastic time. The kids loved the pool, the steam room and hot tub were great. Hotel offers robes in the room to use and is very generous with shampoo, conditioner, etc.

Review of hotel stay in Banff Alta.-March 28/29,

Posted 7-Apr-2014
Pros: Pleasant staff-nice dining in the main lobby.
Cons: Size of first room (one bed) was too small-bathroom is very small. We did not save any money by booking through Expedia-actually would have been cheap
Location: Location was fine-walked to downtown Banff. Further to the above comments-we could have saved money booking directly, won't use Expedia again.
The room/bathroom was very small/crowded-had to upgrade the second night to a room which was larger-very disappointing original room.

Close to centre of town.

We were given a main floor room that looked out at an aged wooden fence and a derelict neighbouring house. Although we were sold indoor parking, we had to park outside as the owner insisted on leaving his/her service vehicles and used furniture in the parkade, leaving guests scrambling in -20c temperatures. Would have been fair value at half the price.

Dear Anonymous Thank you for your very valid comments. Although there is nothing I can do about the derelict house next door, we have removed the service vehicles and used furniture from the parkade. We now have plenty of room for parking and it should not be an issue on your next visit.

I was expecting something better

Posted 25-Mar-2014
For the stars and reviews I was expecting better. Room service is way too slow Needs a good update. Old tvs and amenities. I don't like the idea of laying extra to park your car. Wifi access you need a password for every device???

Weekend getaway with family

Posted 18-Mar-2014
Pros: Clean, comfortable room, pleasant staff, underground parking for a fee.
Location: On Main street but still a bit of a walk to get to downtown. Took about 15 min to walk to downtown since near the entrance of town.
We had a pleasant stay in Banff for a weekend ski trip. Decided to go downhill one day and cross-country the next. Picked this hotel based on the reviews. Traveled with husband and son. Stayed in a double queen room with fireplace. Staff was pleasant when we checked in. Initially we were on the main floor but when I asked for a higher floor in a quiet location, he found a room on the 2nd floor for us. There is only 3 floors in the hotel. The first night was very hot in the room and we had difficulty sleeping. We tried to adjust the thermostat but it did not go down. Apparently we were supposed to turn on the AC in order to cool down the room. My husband did not want me to turn on the AC since he thought it would damage the compressor in the hotel since it is in the middle of winter! The next evening we contacted the hotel and someone came up to our room and told us it was ok to use the AC since it only would affect our room and it was not a central AC. We slept better the 2nd night after we cooled down the room. Pool was a bit small but the hot tub was nice and hot. Evergreen restaurant had a prime rib special so we tried it the Sat night. Too bad the restaurant wasn't busy. Hotel was booked up that weekend.
