“Jacson hotel Ballybofey ireland”
Look forword to going back sometime. Hotel was very nice food was good and the staff were very nice. We had a graet stay and would reccomend this hotel.
“Enjoyable mid-week break”
This was a last minute break and because we wanted to take our two grand-daughters this was the only hotel that could give us a family room to sleep two adults and two children. Never the less it was old fashioned but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was super but on the second morning a very long wait for the hot food which was not self-service. My grand-daughters found the swimming pool a lot of fun the only gripe being we had to pay 10 euro for four swimming hats which were compulsory and my husband is bald!!!! Overall it was a nice break but next time I think a more modern hotel. PS You need a 50 cent piece for the lockers at the pool and if you forget and need to open it you dont get your money back so you need another one, bit of a rip off.
“WEDDING RECEPTION”
I was part of a large family gathering, many of whom at booked in overnight following a wedding,We would have needed a detailed map to find our way through a maze of corridors, more directions needed especially late at night.! The corridors smelt strongly of cigarettes. My room was opposite a smoking room, the occupants had the door open even at 3.00 am with smoke smell coming from the room.My room comfortable. Breakfast could have been better. Value for the money i paid. would consider staying again if in the area
“nice”
Staff was great, great setting, and comfortable...Beds a little lumpy and tv was old but wasnt watching tv anyway!!!!
“tired hotel”
checked in and went to room which was open and not made up. We left our baggage and closed door and reported back to reception and we were then told that check in time was 1600hrs. We left and returned to room at 1620hrs and found room open with our luggage inside(most distressing) and the room was still not made up. I rang down to reception was told it would be done right away. some 30 mins later roomservice arrived. At midnight we retired to bed and found that the bedside next to the window was completely collapsed and we basically had a very uncomfortable night. I spoke to room service and was told it would be fixed. That night we discovered it was not. We basically gave up and tolerated the situation for yet another night. On the positive side breakfast at this hotel was reasonably good and the surrounding area and shopping brilliant. There was superb walks and numerous outdoor activities. I certainly would visit this area again BUT NOT THIS HOTEL. I did leave a written complaint at reception when leaving when I was somewhat embarrassed as I was asked to pay my bill amount and I explained UI had already paid expedia. reply being "thats alright then".
“Easter Stay”
We were allocated a room in the older part of the hotel, I had requested a room near to the lift and this was granted as my father had difficulty walking any length of distance. This worked out grand until the lift broke on the Friday of our stay and was only restored by late friday night. Some of the staff were excellent especially one young man called Patrick, he arranged the use of a wheelchair for my father and went over and above to ensure this was delivered. The food was quite good and a varied menu was available for evenings. I would return to Jacksons and would like to sample the newer part for comparisson.
“Not even remotely impressed”
Booked a family room - it was above the function room which meant that none of us had much sleep at all because of the music noise. Also when it started to rain, the drainpipe was clearly not functioning as there was a waterfall outside the room, all night. The room itself was large, but dated and needed a good clean. The sheets were marked. The shower took about 10mins to run hot water and the bathroon while functional had definitely seen better days. The car park, while large, had overhead sewage pipes which had leaked and resulted in mascerated toilet paper, vomit and other unmentionables on the ground in the car park. One pipe was spraying out liquid in the morning - I dread to think just what it was spraying. Safe to say, I would never recommend this hotel, not in a million years. It may have a nice entrance/function hall and room, but that does not make up for the remainder of the hotel which is dated and needs a huge injection of cash. No wonder they ask for full payment up front on check-in! Ps. breakfast was ok - not awful, not fantastic, just about ok.
“Avoid the old part of the hotel at all costs!”
We stayed at Jacksons Hotel, Ballybofey on 25th April 2011. We were generally looking forward to this short one night break away however what we seen when we got there was far from what they promoted! We were not aware that half of the hotel was the original building and that there was then a newly built, modern half of the hotel, complete with all the mod cons you would associate with modern hotel rooms. When we eventually got checked in and given our room key for the 4th floor, our initial reaction when we first entered the room was to leave. The room had a double bed and 2 singles, the double bed was so bad it had a huge dip in the centre, so when you lay on the bed you generally rolled into the centre. The decor had not obviously been changed in the last 10 or more years and the bed throws were faded and tattered. The actual bedroom furniture was old and tattered and quite unsteady e.g. wobbly chair and loose drawers in the bedside lockers. The bedside lampshades were actually burst all along the seams of the shades and were quite stained. In the bathroom, the cold water tap had no pressure and the toilet was not firmly attached so that it moved when it was sat on! When we complained to the front desk staff we were merely told that they were sorry we "felt" disappointed but there was nothing they could do as the hotel was full as a wedding was going on that day! Overall, when booking call in advance and request the new part if possible!!!
