“basic, but servicable”
The Rodeway Inn is a pretty basic budget motel. It's not much to look at, and has virtually no amenities (except for free wireless Internet access), but it's located very close to the University of Texas' main campus in Austin, and is in easy driving distance from downtown Austin and the Capitol building. I found the manager to be very professional and courteous.
“Convienent Place”
Good place - convienent for my needs, even though the room was too smoky.
“Texas-shaped pancakes and reasonably priced”
I had a fine stay here in very hot 100 degree weather. I was grateful for the small refrigerator in the room, the cold drinks vending machines and the AC. Nothing fancy, but everything I needed for three nights. They were very friendly an helpful at the front desk. I loved the option to cook a Texas-shaped waffle for myself as part of the simple continental breakfast (the batter was made, the timered waffle iron was on -) fun! Reasonable price was and is a priority of mine and I would stay here again.
“Fine for Festival Weekends, but WHOA!”
This hotel is in pretty bad shape. Actually, the bathroom of our room was probably the most filthy I've ever been in - rust stains and mildew everywhere. The hotel staff was very nice and friendly and the chamber maids were really on top of things. If you're going to ACL or SXSW, all you're going to be doing is sleeping there, so it will do the job. Otherwise, find somewhere else.
“Austin, TX”
Good basic accomodations. Room was very clean. Hotel is right beside a busy highway and it's quite loud. Staff was very nice and helpful. Easy walking distance to University of Texas, seven blocks or so from 6th Street.
“Great Staff”
The staff was very friendly and helpful. This older building and rooms could use a little refurbishing and maintainence but overall satisfied with my stay.
“Disappointing.”
We expected more than we got, and we didn't expect much. When we arrived at 4:30 p.m. the room wasn't ready. The beds were satisfactory, but we slept poorly because the air-conditioner cycled very noisily on and off all night. There was no drain plug in the tub. The air vent in the toilet room was horribly noisy. On the other hand, the continental breakfast was acceptable, and the staff was pleasant. It could have been worse, but it could also have been considerably better. We would not stay there again.
“A eviter”
“Not impressed”
Although it is in a convient location and very close to the UT campus, I would not recommend anyone to go there. For one my shower head didn't work and the maintence man wouldn't even be in til next week. Two, the heat in my room wasn't working very well either so I had to shiver all night long (granted I came during one of the coldest days to Austin). Third, I could here the traffic from the highway all night and morning long. You may save some money staying here but dont count on a good deal!
“Possible one for the worst hotels I'v ever stayed at, but cheap”
During the whole time of my stay in this hotel there was no hot water at all. After draining the water for 20 minutes it would warm up to room temperature at best. Breakfast was set up right in the lobby. It consisted of two items: cereal and waffles, milk was sour...
