this unit was overall dated and it surely smelled like it. the area was so bad, there was no soap provided and the towels and bedding were so old and musty. Apart from this the staff was unnecessarily rude on the phone. And the check in lady insisted on charging us more for our room because my father was helping us bring in luggage and that counted as an extra charge because it was more than two people in the room

No polite language to describe this experience
I challenge San Marcos Inn to display any signage or driveway that proves their location at the address they claim. I drove past half a dozen times before giving up and returning to Austin. The ONLY driveway close to the location was at 1505 N 135. A home and commercial remodeling service. I walked North and South from their parking lot and saw NOTHING resembling an Inn, hotel or motel.

DO NOT STAY AT HERE!!!
During the recent and terrible Texas winter storm, I was already without power and water in Austin for 3 days. With what little phone power I had left, I saw this hotel open online so I booked their “last” room blindly hoping they had power and were open. Unfortunately, we arrived and the hotel says “NO VACANCY.” Cindy at the front desk said the hotel and surrounding area did not have power and they weren’t taking anyone because they had no way of checking me in without power. She stated to my family and myself that once they got power and their phone’s working that we would be issued a refund but I’d have to get it through hotels.com. So I drove back through the storm to Austin because we couldn’t find anywhere else to stay. Later that night, Hotels.com couldn’t get in contact with the hotel and said they couldn’t give me a refund until they confirmed it with them. Once hotels.com was finally able to contact the hotel, days later, the hotel is now saying the power returned 20 min later and I could’ve come back to stay. AND they don’t issue refunds! ...I NEVER even told them my name when I arrived. How do they know what time I arrived and if the power returned when they said it did? Secondly, they still didn’t have a working phone for the remainder of the night so I had no way of knowing the power returned! I would listen to all of the horrible reviews of this place. These people are terrible and are stealing money from innocent families!!

I wouldn't call it a stay. I would call it bad busines. So the day I wanted to stay, i booked a room a bit late like maybe 6pm. I get there around 7. Also to mention as for handicap parking, it isnt that good. If you are on a wheelchair and aren't careful, you can roll all the way back. So anyways, I booked a handicap room. I get there so I can check in. The lady then tells me that there aren't any handicap rooms. I would be fine with any downstairs at this point at least. She then says the rooms are too small. I wasn't mad and said that I would have to get my money back through expedia. No hard feelings or anything. It was all understandable. I'll be honest. I wasnt too familiar with the app. I didnt know you were able to cancel from the app. I called expedia the next morning as soon as i could to see about a refund. Expedia called the motel to ask about the situation. The manager said that the refund was declined because I had the room reserved and that no one else was able to rent it out. I understand that but can't they be understanding on my part? It isnt like reserved it, didn't show up and expected a refund. The way I see it is that I lost about 100 dollars this time but they lost much more for when I'm in the area. I won't be wanting to stay there at all anymore.

I came in late at night but the staff is very friendly. The pillows are too hard for my liking but probably OK for most people. There’s nothing really special about these rooms, but I had everything I needed.

Had arrived at the hotel and noticed right off the bat something was off. Was advertised to have a pool and there wasn’t. The rooms looked to be from the 80s. There was stains on the floor and bedding, to the point I had to go buy sheets. The A/C in the room barely worked had to go buy 2 fans and run them on high. When the lady was confronted about any problems she just blew it off. The second room I had booked was also a none smoking room and as soon as you walked in it hit you like a train. I booked online and reserved to pay when arrived well that was one price what I was actually charged was about $50 more, to add to the price when she was confronted about the smoking room she moved my friends from a single queen room to a double room which was cheaper and would not refund me for it when asked all she said was I have your credit card information just don’t leave me a bad review. I’m sorry but if you have to tell your guest not to leave you a bad review then you should maybe try a little harder at running your business. Overall not happy with the stay but was still a good weekend.

The room smelled bad! The beds were really soft. The room was not clean. The manager wouldn't give a refund. Quite arrogant! I'd have to be really desperate to stay there. Didn't stay there!

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
The first room they put me in was filthy. The TV didn't work. I went back to the front desk & told them, The lady that checked me in came to check on it. After she messed with a while, I asked for another room. She ignored me and continued to mess with the TY. It was obvious that she didn't know what she was doing. I gave her a few more seconds, then demanded another room!! She went down the hall and opened another filthy, nasty room for me. She said she would be right back with another key. It took her a while, but she eventually brought me one. I got settled in, then tried to connect to the WiFi. I couldn't find anything with any decent signal. I tried to call back to the desk, BUT THIS TIME, THE IN-ROOM PHONE WOULDN'T WORK!! I went back to the front desk and told her my room phone didn't work, and asked about the WiFi. She told me what the WiFi ID was--open connection, no password protection. I pulled it up on my phone while I was still at the check-in desk. It was there, but the WEAKEST possible signal. When I got back to my room, it was still the weakest signal, but that didn't last. About half of the time I was there, I had the weakest signal, the rest of the time, I had NO SIGNAL AT ALL!! There was a refrigerator in the room. I put a couple of sodas in it. A few hours later, they were both FROZEN SOLID!! THIS WAS THE VERY FIRST TIME--AND THE VERY LAST TIME--I WILL STAY AT THIS HOTEL CHAIN!!!!!

Check in staff was nice, room was quiet considering its on the highway. The room however was not very clean and had a funky musty smell. There was no coffee as advertised. It served its purpose and I would stay again.

It was somewhere to sleep.
There was a refrigerator in the room; however, it was not plugged in and there wasn't a plug for it. The television also didn't work. There wasn't cold water in the shower, only very hot. It is difficult to get back to the freeway. Nonetheless, we went down to float the river and it worked for a place to sleep. The prices were more accommodating staying in San Marcos than in New Braunfels.

Don't judge a book by it's cover...
At first I didn't have the trust to stay in the hotel because of the rating (2 stars)... but once I got into the room it was impressive!!!... I actually felt like I was in a premium room... Really classy.... Just like in the movies... (Well... except for the tv which it's kind of.... Old!!... but I didn't stay to watch tv.... so didn't care!!)... I can assure you that if you need soap or shampoo the room will have enough!!!... It has those soap dispensers like the public restroom to be able to have enough to shower and wash your hands... Didn't need to open the bar soaps... And of course the furniture in the room it was really clean... Just like it was a family owned place.... I'll really would stay there again if it's necessary... thanks for the service!!!

Definitely a single guys hotel.
I got in very late and the gentleman was behind a glass and he couldn't hear me and I couldn't understand him. He had trouble finding the reservation. After finding it he handed me the remote control and room key. The room was acceptable but it also looked like the type of place where you wouldn't get under the covers. The AC did not work and he would not answer the phone. In the morning he seemed to be upset that I did not get out of bed and walk downstairs and wake him up to fix the AC. I had to change rooms. The area was good highway access to Austin.
