The Atlanta Botanical Gardens is a stunning park filled with exotic, intriguing and even comical floral displays. Its leafy setting stretches across an area of 30 acres (12 hectares), with beautifully illuminated paths, sculptures and fountains. Visit the Atlanta Botanical Gardens to explore the world of glorious vegetation in a vast set of grounds.

Wander through the fascinating temporary exhibits of the Imaginary Worlds section. Among its highlights over the years was the Alice’s Wonderland display, featuring chess pieces, a mad hatter and a smiling Cheshire cat.

For impressive views, climb along the Kendeda Canopy Walk and pass the dense forest of oaks and poplars.

Bring your little ones to the Lou Glenn Children’s Garden and let them frolic on the Splash Pad. Spot bees making honey behind a glass case and learn all about the intriguing Venus fly traps and pitcher plants.

Other popular sections include the Dorothy Chapman Fuqua Conservatory and the Orchid House. Stroll through the edible garden to get ideas about what to grow and make for your own meals. Enter the rose garden and the Japanese garden and study the range of vegetation.

Have drinks at the Cocktails in the Garden events on Thursdays in summer. The park also puts on varied music concerts outside. Attend some of the other events, including storytelling, cooking lessons and workshops about growing herbs.

The site is open Tuesday through Sunday from morning until evening. There is a fee to enter with discounts for kids. Toddlers and members can enter for free.

The Atlanta Botanical Gardens is in the northern part of Piedmont Park, in the Midtown Atlanta neighborhood of the city. Travel by metro to the Arts Center Transit and walk east for 15 minutes to get to the gardens.

While in the area, visit nearby attractions such as the Center for Puppetry Arts, the Margaret Mitchell House and the Piedmont Park Aquatic Center.
