A wonderful fancy & upscale hotel
A wonderful amazing upscale and fancy hotel for very cheap. Only $68 Canadian. I checked in around 3 am after booking online and the receptionist was quick to find my reservation and give me the keys. I was surprised how upscale, modern and fancy the room was. It’s definently a 4 star. Coming from super expensive Paris this was a real treat. I am a frequent traveller (travel all the time) so I know and appreciate upscale and fanciness.

We were not in pytagorion due to renovation they said. We were in cubik hotel was very clean and newly renovated.stuff very friendly. I recommend everybody to stay there.

Athens & The Ancient Ruins
We arrived in Athens following a ferry ride from Paros. A tram from Pireaus brought us to the nearest station (Omonia)to the Pythoragion Hotel . The man at the reception desk was extremely helpful, checking us in quickly and advising us of tourist routes, trams buses atc. Thr room itself was comfortable and nice, but lacked a couple of extra sockets beside one side of the beds. The bar was a nice quiet place to have a drink and I was impressed by the staffs attitude on the Saturday night trying to find a room for people who had no reservation. We had not pre-booked breakfast but used the hotels facility and have to say that for 8 euro it was generous in its arrays of coffees/teas/ juices/ hot and cold breakfast plates / fruits/yoghurt and bread anc cheese. I enjoyed being back in Athens after more that 30 years and it will not be as long again and I will be quite happy to dtay in this well appointed venue once more.

Comfortable / quiet and great location
The staff here is super friendly. Helped me organize my trip to the Greek islands and many food recs. Almost like a family hotel. Room was modern and the bed was great. Close enough to Plaka that you can walk there in 10-15 minutes. I did in the middle of the night no problem. Easy access to the airport and Piraeus via metro. I’m going back!

Fine room, cool AC.
Room was clean and air conditioning worked well, shower was slippery but had good pressure. Beds were firm but overall just fine! Annoying neighboring children were running and screaming in the hallway til 1am but the hotel did their best to stop it. We had dinner at Alexander the Great which the front desk recommended, it was very good and just a short walk.

Athens treat
Hotel was excellent value for money. Staff were really friendly and helpful would stay again. Area is okay just a few minutes walk to the subway. Like every big city just be aware of the pickpockets at night around the subway. After saying that I will recommend the hotel and area because it was so easy to get around. Most of the people of Athens are really nice and helpful.

We had a great stay at the hotel. The hotel staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was always clean and tidy Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice for all.

lovely hotel. wrong location for us pensioners
we were told it was a bit seedy . It was too far to walk to restaurants and bars a bit too ethnic and we felt too nervous to go out at night. Hotel has snacks which were greek but nice but not for my partner. Was expecting to use local transport but couldnt get any information of routes or timetables. Too far to walk to bus station. Queue for acropolis was long but quite fast. No maps provided. The extended tickets for other sights was 30 euros. Graffiti was worse than we thought and made areas look prohibitive

Not bad. Only minor issue was the shower... not sure what they were thinking when they designed it. There’s plenty of room in the bathroom yet the shower was tiny and had a super long I’ll-fitting curtain that wrapped around your body and impeded the water from draining. Oh, and they could probably use a second elevator for a hotel of that size. But overall good hotel for price category and friendly staff.

Fine if you just need a late night sleep.
The communal areas of the hotel - breakfast & reception are nicely done. There was a lot of noise once in my room- next door’s toilet flushing, the maid’s phone ringing, other guests etc. The maid left hairs in my room after she had cleaned (hers not mine) Neighbourhood isn’t the best but ok for money: I wouldn’t recommend to solo female travellers.

Trip to Athens
The staff at the hotel were fantastic. We arrived at 7.30am and managed to check in by 10am. When we left we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel whilst we spent our last day looking around the city. The location of the hotel is fantastic, there is a metro station about 5 minutes away and lots of shops 5-10 minute walk. It's easy to get to all the tourist spots.

Downtown location of this hotel was great for my wife and I. We spent a week here celebrating our anniversary. We were able to walk to ALL of the standard tourist sites and even had a view of Mt. Lycabettus and the Acropolis (ok just a sliver but it was still cool)from our balcony. Never felt unsafe although Athens can look intimidating. The people are nice but reserved and almost everyone could speak enough English to allow us to communicate. The hotel staff were all professional and able to help when needed. They had advice and information when asked. I don't usually write this much but we really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Pythagorion.

Location is fine! Decent hotel & friendly staff
Don't stress about the location like all these other reviewers are. Like any country, if you wander down the back streets in the middle of the night then yes you will see some dodgy characters. The hotel is located on a busy main road with plenty of normal non-threatening people walking around. 10 minutes walk up this road is Omonia Square & train station, lots of hotels and restaurants around, another 15mins walk is Monastiraki - the main tourist area (again just stick on the main road and head towards the Acropolis). The hotel itself is decent, wifi isn't bad, staff are friendly and greet you every time you enter the hotel. Rooms are clean and pretty spacious, air-con works well, beds are comfy enough and bathroom is good.Can't comment on breakfast as we didn't eat in the hotel. My only negative is that the cleaning staff in the morning are loud and don't really take into consideration that people are trying to sleep. Our room was next door to their storage room which had a phone in it that rang constantly all morning. Either it would ring and ring and ring and no one would answer, or when a woman did answer she spoke so loudly it was like she was standing in our room having the conversation. Other than that, no real complaints. Distance to main tourist areas is short, train station is 10mins walk up the road, just don't go down the backstreets after all the shops close and you'll be fine.

The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful at all times. While it is centrally located (within couple of minutes walk to Omonia Square), this appears to be a high crime neighbourhood. The walls were paper thin - on the 1st day we heard our neighbour having shower at 1am, followed by loud sex, phone call at 5am (pretty much everything ...). 2nd day night was just as restless. I would advise not to stay here if you are a light sleeper.
