“superb location; excellent service”
This is my third time at this hotel; superb modern decor; impeccable rooms and awesome baths with European amenities. Opt for a room facing the back of the hotel; front rooms have great views, but too much noise from boulevard. Excellent breakfast included in price. Hair drier in the room; have to borrow iron. Ten minute walk to Acropolis museum and all points of interest!!! Very convenient transportation to all points in Athens. MOST importantly metro to and from airport is across the street.
“great location and nice rooms”
the rooms were a good size, clean and nice. the bathrooms were great, especially for greece. good water pressure and a full size tub and a shower head that is mounted above head-height. air conditioning worked well. we stayed in 2 different rooms at 2 parts of our trip, one had a balcony with a wonderful view of the national garden and parlaiment building. when you open the balcony door the traffic sounds are loud but i didn't find it a problem to sleep through when the door is shut. the 2nd room we had for one night before our flight home had no balcony, and a view of the next building, nothing too exciting but not bad. not sure if that window opened or not. it was less noisy not facing the street. tried the breakfast one morning (we didn't get it included in our room) and was very good. the roof garden didn't have any chairs out when we went (may 2009) but we had a balcony so we used that when we wanted to sit outside. people at the desk were helpful with restaurant recommendations and information about the bus to the airport and calling cabs.
“Nice hotel, nice people and best location”
I would recommend this hotel as it is right in the centre of Athens. The hotel was very clean and spacious and the people were very nice and extremely helpfull. Would definately go back again.
“Best of Athens.”
Our first night (in a group) was at a 5 star hotel, the St. George. We chose the Amelia for our 5 day breakaway in Athens based on other Expedia reviews. The reviews were dead on. The location was excellent, the room was large and the beds were comfortable. The Parliament building and the National Gardens were visible from our balcony. The Acropolis (a short ride away) was visible at night from the roof garden. The Plaka with its shops and restaurants were a few blocks away. Note that when you open the door to your balcony the air conditioning shuts off. The breakfast was excellent and included in our stay. The Amelia is a four star hotel that earns the rating.
“I would stay here again in a second!”
The Amalia Hotel was better than I imagined. When we arrived it was pouring rain and our family of 6 walked from the Metro station (about a 8 min walk). We were soaked! The front desk was quick, the had our room keys ready and our rooms were already made up with the extra bed in each. The rooms were small, but nice. Clean, well decorated, and the bathrooms were very nice. The balcony was the highlight of the room. It over looked the beautiful park across the street. (This park is a must see. Statues, paths, play area) The morning breakfast was also a pleasant suprise. There was so much to choose from and any kind of juice, coffee or tea you could want. A word of CAUTION to any visiting Athens.......We careful with bags, purse, or wallets. The petty crime there is terrible because so many people to no have work. I had read this before we left but I had no Idea it was going to be so bad. My purse was stolen in a coffee cafe around the corner from the hotel. I had it by my chair and 2 men distracted us and took it. My 18 year old son saw them and chased them down the street yelling Theif! ! They dropped it when he grabbed caught the ones arm. Lucky for us. Then again the next day on the Metro I had it across my body but I was holding our 3 year old and didn't feel a man reach into the purse and start to remove my wallet. I Greek lady, who saw this started yelling at him in Greek. I turned and realized what was happening. After that I didn't carry a purse.
“Clean! Very, Very NICE”
Great location, very clean, great continental breakfast!!
“The only option in Athens!!!”
This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. It far exceeded my expectations. The location is the best (next to Metro and city buses and trams) and everything is within walking distance. The hotel is very modern, comfortable, and smartly furnished and decorated. Breakfast is outstanding! The view of the Acropolis from the roof terrace is not to be missed. The airport bus is just around the corner and is much easier than Metro for traveling to and from the airport. The travel time is longer, but departures are every 10 minutes and there is virtually no walking. At the airport, you are dropped of directly in front of the ticket counters and upon arrival, the bus is just outside baggage claim. We originally planned to stay at the Hilton, but this proved to be the better choice. It is the ONLY place to stay in Athens.
“Excellent Hotel in Athens”
The hotel was excellent and in the perfect location to shops, markets and resaurants. The bus fron the airport terminated one block away from the hotel within 5 min walk. The meto station was opposite. We could not fault this hotel, service was good, the rooms were large and clean. Breakfast was one of the best we have had on our travells. it was early, with a ample selection of food. We would highly recommend this hotel.
“Hotel AMALIA a Athènes”
“We will return!”
The Amalia is just one block from Syntagma Square and is a perfect location for easy access to shoping in the Plaka and visiting archaeological sites. And, the price is right! They have recently renovated the hotel rooms and lobby and all is comfortable and modern. Restaurants are top quality. Teh staff is knowlegeable and helpful.
