“Very Nice”
The hotel was in a perfect location for site seeing. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to see in the city center in minutes. Hotel was very modern and clean. Breakfast was very nice and plenty of variety. I would definitely stay there again. There is a bar almost directly across the street and it stays loud and busy until well after 4am, but found that shutting the window, and being exhausted from walking all day was no problem sleeping. Nice beds, clean room, plenty of closet and dresser space. Shower was phone booth size but not really a problem. Nice staff, excluding one guy at the front desk, but he was just a little cranky-not to bad.
“Great location and quiet”
The Achilleas is in an excellent location, and very quiet as it is on a small side street and kind of tucked away. The room (a triple) was larger than we expected, and quite comfortable. Bathroom small, but ok. It was nice to have free internet access in the lobby - we used it. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was quite good. We did not need a taxi to get to the hotel - it is a short walk from Syntagma square where the airport bus dropped us.
“Americans living in Europe”
We took our 2 daughters, 14 and 10, to Athens in July 2011. We booked a quad, and the room was more than adequate. Our room was on the 3rd floor and was toward the back of the hotel. We did not experience any noise from the outside...it was nice and quiet. There was 2 twins pushed together to make a bed about the size of a queen, another twin, and a bed that I would equate to a roll-away. The room was big for a european hotel and even had air conditioning. The bathroom was small, and the shower was...bizzare (at least to us - and we have seen lots in europe!). I would describe it as a small soaking tub with a seat in it - there is no shower curtain. It was different, but worked - and adequate enough for a few days. There is a tiny elevator that held 2-3 people maximum. Or possibly 1 person and 1 piece of luggage. Hotel is located very near Syntagma Square. If you are walking from the train station, cross the street and follow the main street straight until you reach the 2nd water fountain in the middle of the road and turn right. Go to the very next turn (it is a pedestrian turn) and go left. Cross the next street and stay straight...hotel is on your left about 1/2 block down. The hotel staff was always friendly and the buffet breakfast was included. Typical european, but extra kudos for the good coffee and fruit salads...and don't forget the greek yogurt! Mmmmmm....
“Good hotel for the price”
Nice people, good breakfast, and a central location just off Syntagma Square. I have stayed at other hotels (for more money) that offered less value. I will stay there again on my next trip to Athens.
“Excellent location”
The Achilleas located a stone's throw from Syntagma Square is an ideal jumping off spot for visiting Athens' most attractive districts. While the carpets are a little stained and shabby, the hotel is otherwise clean and offers quality friendly service.
“Great location!”
This hotel is right near the Plaka area. You can walk all over to the shops, acropolis, and great food places! The hotel is small but comfortable and in a quiet part of touwn. I would go back!
“Good value for money”
The hotel has an excellent location right next to Syntagma square and the pedestrian area. Its street is a bit shabby, but the hotel lobby is alright and given what I was paying, it was more than ok. My room had a balcony which was a nice surprise, and housekeeping did a good job in terms of cleanliness.
“Athens Hotel”
Decent hotel for Athens and price. Convenient to tourist sites, restaurants, transportation.
“quiet central location, a nice surprise”
Although the single room was very small, (the smallest there is I was told),which was ok for my short stay of 1 night, ( it was supposed to be a double room single occupancy) I was pleasantly surprised by the presence of a balcony (3rd floor and up) and view at rooftops from the sixth floor. Location on Lekka street in a real and lively neighbourhood is very pleasant, not far from Syntagma square. No traffic noise which by Athens standards is a find. Staff very nice. Breakfast just right. Renovated with a nice touch. I am told there are much larger rooms. I would gladly come back.
“Achilleas”
The plumbing was noisy and the bed uncomfortable. Ask for a room away from the lift! The promised internet connection was non-existant. However the location is very convenient and ther breakfast more than adequate for a 3 star.
