The room was clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom looked to be newly renovated. The bar downstairs was a friendly place to visit after a day of sightseeing. The proprietor was extremely friendly and a delight to chat with. It was overall a nice mix of old and new.

Our rooms were very comfy. Cina, was so helpful we stayed our three nights and checked out got in our rental cars headed for Edinburg got about 20 miles down the road and had to turn around as the road was flooded and they closed it. We went back to the Kelvin and she got rooms for us and the next day when the road was still closed she had the rooms for us and helped us search and check online for when the road would be open so we could make it to Edinburg for our flight we were a party of eight and are all very greatful for all the help.

Stayed 3 nights in early October 2023. The good news is it's close to the ferry terminal. The bad news is its close to the ferry terminal. The noise was pretty loud until after 10pm. The hotel looked a little tired as some of the rugs were frayed and hallway floors creaked.

Warm, welcoming inn
The Kelvin was in a convenient location for everything Oban has to offer. The innkeeper and staff were friendly and helpful. We had adorable rooms with kitchenettes, and they were just perfect to come home to after long, wet days exploring Oban and the surrounding isles. There’s even a cozy bar and continental breakfast available. We wanted to avoid hotel chains and have a more authentic experience, and The Kelvin did not disappoint. I would stay again (and really hope to)!

The hotel is ideal if you need to be in Oban for an early ferry or train both are next door across the street. The building itself is very dated but clean and the room was fine for a night or two with a good shower in the bathroom but I wouldn’t use it for longer stays. Strangely some of the corridors smelled of smoke even though it’s been banned indoors for years. Parking is available pay and display around the area we had to try several car parks but did finally get a space on a busy afternoon. The hotel is handy for the waterfront and places to eat.

Pretty average hotel with no much to like. Arrived late and the keys were in the hall for me which it was convenient, also an easy check out. I only slept and left early morning. Don't expect more than that. No breakfast or any other facilities

The room was great. Everything en suite. Runsam in the pub was very friendly and interesting. Check in and check out was no problem. I left my bag in their storage room until check in and did not have any problems or concerns with doing so.

Sheena the owner of the Kelso was absolutely wonderful. She made us feel so welcome and at home. We would have loved more time to stay. The room was wonderful. We highly recommend this gem to everyone!

The rooms are all upstairs and there is no lift. My room is facing the parking lot and get noisy early with car/truck and train. The room is spacious but no shampoo. Hotel itself has no restaurant, the cheap 7.5 gbp breakfast does not have hot item. The bar close early like 9pm. The room can get chilly, even in August, so there is heater, but no A/C. All in all, just a place to sleep.

The hotel is across the street from the harbor to board the ferries. The paid parking lot is in front of the hotel. The room was clean, spacious. Breakfast was good but modest in choices - mostly carbs. Staff was friendly. This hotel does not have an elevator, getting luggage upstairs is an exercise.

Absolutely wonderful stay at the Kelvin Hotel. The staff and owner are top notch. I would highly recommend to any traveler. The Kelvin Hotel is perfect for whatever you are looking for. The on site bar is perfect and excellent recommendations for the local area are provided. Sheena is a gracious and amazing host. Be certain to speak to her and understand what it means to be in Oban. Many thanks to her and the staff for a wonderful visit. We will be back for certain. Best stay in Scotland!

When you go to check in there is no one there, it is self check in with your name on an envelope and a key inside. You are right on the water and starting at 6:00 am we heard the ship making announcements to passengers. When departing you just put your key in a bowl near the door.

The hotel was quiet, convenient and had easy parking. The young man who checked me in was very helpful, showing me where to leave the car. Only snag I had was difficulty getting the shower to run warm.

Very close to the railway station and ferry port, both could be seen from my room. Easy flat walking, less than 10 minutes to the shops and seafront. Convenience store and coffee shops only 4-5 minutes away. Room very comfortable but bed a bit soft for me. Staff helpful and friendly. A great few days stay, thank you.

Loved, loved loved the staff!! Friendly , kind and helpful. The room needs some TLC the mirror was off the wall and a light fixture was not attached but the room was Clean and the Bed comfortable!
