“excellent hotel”
great place - quiet and private patio with most fabulour view of volcano over the lush gardens - nice location, away from main road, great food too
“Travelling with small children”
We chose to hire private transportation through the hotel over expedias. The price was fair and upon arrival the staff was very friendly. The first night we ate at the hotel restaurant. There weren't many choices for our children of 3 and 1 and the food was overpriced so we did not eat there again. The free breakfast was yummy every morning and the gardens on site were gorgeous. Our room was exaclty as the pictures on-line. We had privacy and good assistance throughout our stay. The airconditioner was a little crazy...it would freeze up and make ice cubes that would fall loudly onto the floor. One night it made really loud noises and we turned it off. The refigerator had to be replaced in our room because it wasn't working. The girl at the front desk tried to argue a little about it, saying that it was working until maintenance came and replaced it. The hotel was lovely for the price and it was fairly cheap to catch a cab to town. The staff did seem to be a little less helpful toward the end of our stay but I have no real complaints. When we were checking out the girl at the front desk did try to charge us for some items that were paid for in advance. We refused and she changed the amount. Our family had a great time and I would stay there again....just make sure when you checkout you read your bill! Our kids had a great time and the pool was extremely nice!
“Nice View”
Great hotel.Fantastic view. I would certainly stay there again.
“Satisfied guest”
The hotel is in a good location a few hundred meters off the main road making it quiet with adequate security. The bungalows are quite spacious with very large, nice baths. The included breakfast is a buffet (with one station for made-to-order eggs/omelets) and is OK for a buffet (which isn't saying much - we did not dine in the hotel restaurant for any other meal since we decided to try a few of the local restaurants, a couple of which were quite good). The view of the volcano from every bungalow verandah appears to be good, and the grounds are well landscaped and maintained. Overall, a very nice, comfortable, clean hotel with friendly, courteous staff.
“Perfect view of Arenal Volcano”
Enjoyed our stay. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We had a perfect view from our bed and then from the rocking chairs of the volcano. Only downsize was location to town. You need a car or you will need to call a taxi.
“Beautiful Hotel and Grounds”
The hotel is situated at the foot of the Arenal volcano and every bungalow is tucked away amongst the lush plant life. The restaurant pavillion and bar is set back and the view is pretty. We enjoyed the hot spring pool. The other pool was beautiful as well. The atmosphere is very relaxed and serene. Try and request a bungalow by the regular pool area where they are set up a little father on a hill and the views are better. We had one by reception area which was not as nice as the others. The front desk needs to work on their welcoming skills, I was immediately put off by the attitude of the girl upon check in. The bungalows themselves were immaculate and beautiful with an entire wall that is all glass and opens up to the view of the volcano and small patio.
“Potential for 5*”
Arenal Manoa is a comfortable, exquisite, brand-new hotel, with excellent installations and décor. All rooms are in double bungalows, set in a beautiful garden. Large rooms, all with queen size beds. Only two negatives: the food, and mixed drinks in the restaurant and pool bar are poor, at best. Secondly, bring an umbrella. It rains a lot, and none are available on loan. All in all a very recommendable hotel.
“Beautiful sights”
The hotel was beautiful and the view was amazing. We did have a lot of ants in our bathroom. We called the front desk and told them of the problem and they said that they would send someone down but nobody every showed up. We had to spray the ants and clean them up ourselves. Other than that, it was a good place to stay.
“We enjoyed our stay, but.....”
The hotel was beautiful - our room was great - the facilities were excellent. The staff were indifferent/unhelpful with regard to money exchange. The breakfast was fine, though once again, the service left a little to be desired. Only main meals were available in restaurant and room service - we would have welcomed the option to get something more 'snacky'. The hotel has a very long drive (800m) to main road - add this to distance to anything else - then there is nothing else within walking distance. Be warned about 'Happy Hour' at the bar - the usual cocktail menu disappears and the only options are a lot less inspiring and a similar price (you just get two of them) With hindsight we would have preferred to pay the same for a single, more interesting cocktail, but that option went when happy hour began. Seems like a lot of gripes - but we did enjoy our stay of 2 nights!
“More good than bad.”
Great setting at the end of a bumpy dirt road, Grounds are spectacular with lots of beautiful plantings and birds. Rooms are totally designed around view of volcano so functionality is not the greatest. Lighting is really poor. Breakfast buffet was very good but dinner was not. Only option the night we ate there was a chef grilling your choice of steak (mine was terrible), chicken or fish with fixed side dishes. But it was pouring out and we did not feel like driving.
